This is by far the worst Greek dining experience I have ever had, and I have had a fair few. The staff were attentive but I guess you get that when there is 4 waiters on and there is only 10 people in the restaurant.
I ordered the Souvlaki (a favourite of mine) and my partner ordered the Seafood Souvlaki. All I had on my plate were 2 skewers with 4 pieces of meat each separated by large chunks of capsicum and onion. Although the meat was tender it had absolutely no flavour. I also asked if I could have Greek salad on the side instead of grilled tomato, the waitress advised that I could have salad instead of rice but not salad instead of the grilled tomato.
I obliged. The salad was lettuce, 1 wedge of tomato, a few slices of cucumber and red onion. There was no dressing apart from a splash of Balsamic, I don’t think I would be asking too much from a Greek Restaurant to have at least a couple of chunks of Feta with my salad but no. Very bland and tasteless. This plate cost me $33. My partners meal looked better than mine but didn't taste any where near as good as the price would suggest, $37.
After speaking with the waitress to advise her that we did not enjoy our meals, she proceeded to tell us that the Souvlaki is the best on the coast and she did not know what we were talking about (quite rudely). I advised her that I did not expect anything for free but I would not be recommending anyone to this restaurant. Hence my blog here.
I would suggest that you go to one of the 10 or so Italian restaurants in Surfers, you will get better value for money and at least they won't be so complacent to think that they provide the best of something on the coast when it was actually very tasteless and boring.
We had the fetta tart for entree which was OK, nothing special. We could tell it was just warmed up in the oven. Wine list was far below average so I settled for beer. Unfortunately, none of the decent beers were available! What a shame. BYO wine option is good however, the local Vintage Cellars has closed down. Come prepared. We both had fish of the day for mains which was actually quite good. Fresh grilled fish, nice garlic rice and steamed veggies. Wish I had BYO a decent chardonnay.
The location is convenient however, the street was quite busy with many noisy trucks passing due to the near-by construction site. I'm sure it would be fine if you had a large group sitting inside, we were not, and the place only had 3 other tables seated for lunch.
Considering the entree, and poor winelist, we didn't believe the value was great. Service was good. Bottom line, bring a large group, plenty of your own wine and I'm sure you'll have a great time.
