Dined here on Sunday afternoon. Service was attentive and happy, and the quality and portion sizes were very good. Small but impressive wine list (Craggy Range Chard). Highly recommended and great value for money.
Dined here three times in one week. The food was delicious and the service was both efficient and friendly. One of the best restaurants we visited on our tour of Queensland.
We dined here last Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. We had a fairly large group of 9 adults and 6 young children. We were contacted by the restaurant to confirm our booking and to offer a separate table for the children.
When we arrived the children's table was set at the end of the adults and had colouring pencils and books to keep them entertained. Our waitress was very pro-active and immediately took the kid's orders and made sure that they weren't delayed.
The food was fantastic and the service excellent. Thank you for making a special family reunion dinner stress-free for us.
Went here for breakfast this week. Amazing food! Great sized portions, fresh and tasty produce. I thought the juices were expensive...but when they arrived they were HUGE! The tea and coffees were also great for the price. The first restaurant I have been to that offers Gluten free or Spelt bread options. Good service and friendly staff. Am from Sydney and will definitely go up to Coolie for another opportunity to eat there. Fantastic!
Dined there with my husband last Mon night 31/3/08, absolutely heavenly food. Had the seafood platter for two, great variety bugs, prawns, scallops, oysters smoked salmon etc. We'll be going here again!
This has got to be the best food on the Gold Coast. The soft shell crab was superb and the steak was cooked to perfection, contrary to Mel & G's critisism (you know how some people just like to have a whinge about anything and nothing is ever good enough - must be a miserable way to live!).
We eat out all over Australia and overseas, we have very high expectations of restaurants that want our hard earned money and Bellakai is at least on a par with some of the best restaurants at which we have dined anywhere. The wine list includes wines you won't find too easily on bottle shop shelves. We have been there for lunch and dinner and both times every aspect of the experience was superb.
We went on a saturday night, although fully booked, they sat us at the bar and told us a table would 10 minutes. The staff were helpful & actually happy. It was a fresh change to actually see this in a busy restaurant. Within 5 minutes, they showed us to the table. The menu is very extensive, I had the lamb rack, it was brilliant and filling. I will be definitely going back soon.
I have eaten here a couple of times and found the food to be absolutely fantastic. Coming from Sydney, having the range we have here, I couldn't believe we stumbled upon it. Its decor is more formal than before when it was more cafe style. We had an incredibly fussy eater with us and they went out of their way to help her (made up a meal). The range of desserts was good too. Ignore the review below, I would fly to the Gold coast just to eat there. It's a must try!
Whilst I agree with the Overview it forgets to mention two critical elements, the quality of the service and the attention to detail of the chef. We booked for dinner tonight and the seating was nearly as requested, however, the service was not. Lacking promptness and accuracy our waitress did not write down our order and needless to say, they got it wrong. We were unsure of who "our" waitress was (seemingly understaffed) and my entree was "forgotten", though I should have taken that as a good omen, the soft shell crab was below par and the eye fillet (requested rare) was medium and sub standard.
The "Overview" promises so much but the execution leaves so much to be desired. They have a great opportunity to demonstrate the BEST of Coolangatta but attention to detail in service and finish would surely impress the type of clientele the Mantra's guests have become accustomed to in Sydney and Melbourne.
