Overview of Teriyaki Mate

Teriyaki Mate is a Japanese inspired casual restaurant with 80 seats. There is outdoor seating available that are heated with tall boys in the winter time. Teriyaki Mate is a place where you can meet friends and family for a formal meal or a casual lunch, there are options to take away or to drop in for a social drink and a snack.

Teriyaki Mate's signature dish is the Gyu Negi Maki a perfect combination of simple ingredients, such as a flash - blanched bundle of spring onions wrapped and rolled in a thin, yet flavourful fillet of broiled beef rib eye. This appetizing dish is perfect with reduced Teriyaki sauce and Seville relished Mayonnaise.

Teriyaki Mate also prepares a variety of dishes such as Bentou with its regular veggie, salad Sunamoc, sashimi, tempura, chicken teriyaki, rice, Miso soup and fruits and we will specialise in the different type of Sushi such as California Maki, Tamago Sushi, Ebi Sushi are just a few.

These are hearty meals that the Japanese cook at home for their families. We will always supply fresh Australian seafood, meat, vegetables and fruit.

Given the reviews of this I had read (here and elsewhere), I thought that this place would be Japanese food nirvana, how I was mistaken. Fairly average food, dulled down for Aussie tastes, the agedashi tofu was fab and the service was good, but everything else was average. I don't think I would bother again.

This is our new favourite Japanese! Highly recommended. We have been there for lunch about 5 times and for dinner about 3 times in the past 6 months, as it is great food at great prices! They have a lunch special for $11 which is beef or chicken even seafood ($14) teppanyaki with rice, miso and salad. I take my hungry teens there and we are all full on leaving and for $11, I couldn't dish up same standard for that price at home!

The staff are great, the owner/manager(?) is great on the teppanyaki grill, very entertaining and really look after you like a 5 star restaurant. The decor is modern and outdoor dining lovely. I keep taking my guests there and all are very impressed!

As for the sashimi, the salmon was the best quality I have ever tasted, and I've dined all over Asia at 4 star places and this little place is the best!

Great place to eat the food is fresh and the ambience fantastic. If you have not been there strongly recommend you visit this restaurant, the best I have eaten at on the Gold Coast.
