I Love Food Award - QLD Favourite Middle Eastern
Taboon is a cafe/restaurants that manages to capture the exotic flavours of the Middle East.Embracing the outdoors with its large fold-away windows and traditional cushion seating, the colours of the desert are reflected in its decor. The fresh flavours of the countries of the Middle East are evident in the healthy salads, dips and creative sandwiches featuring the famous pita bread baked in the restaurant's own traditional stone oven- the Taboon.
Taboon is a modern cafe basing its cuisine around the traditional stone oven of the Middle East and drawing its recipes from a variety of countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, and Turkey. It is a relaxing and unique destination where you can enjoy fresh, healthy and authentic food.

We have been here countless times and will continue to go back. This week we've been twice, mainly as an excuse to try two of their new home cooked desserts. Chocolate cake with halva is great and today we had that with a serve of the pomegranate and molasses cheesecake. Both were amazing. Hard to believe everything is prepared fresh! Love the service too, always feel like we're eating at a friend's house.

Want to eat innovative, fresh and light Middle Eastern cuisine? Cooked in the unique taboon oven which is the centre-piece of this cafe, you can start with a selection of traditional dips such as Hummus or something a little different- such as the Persian eggplant or Tunisian Carrot dip and freshly baked pitta. Then move on to the flame grilled meats- Lamb with Garlic or Chicken Shoofta (like a meatball). A huge menu will make ti difficult to choose, but if you go with a group, you should make sure you share the dishes, and definitely order one of the stunning range of thin crust pizzas.
At lunch time there are a variety of suffed pitta bread 'sandwiches'- luscious fillings and very generous at moderate prices. Don't foget to try the Malabi for dessert - lightly scented with orange water, it is like custard served with a fruit coulis.
Delicious!
