I ate here about a week ago on a friday night, and ended up hanging around for a few drinks well into the night for their 'Ladies Night' not only was my food amazing but the service from both restaurant and bar staff was great.
Since the new owners have taken over (who introduced himself to me and our table!) the service has improved incredibly. I'll be going back there!

This day we had been Whale watching, and we came back hungry. (and by the way, left hungry) Walking along the Marina we noticed on the menu board at Saks.....oysters Kilpatrick - $19.00 with a Han beer. Special of the day, we were going to have that and leave because the prices were bit expensive. But seeing we were hungry we order a main meal.
The wait staff were nice enough. We both ordered mains at the same time as entree, pork belly aprox $24.00 sounded good. The oysters came out in normal waiting period. These were good, nothing to rave about. We waited sooo long for the mains approx 45 minutes from the time we finished the entree, this was wed lunch so they were not busy.
Wow was this meal small I thought this was a sample of the main meal to come. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was nice. The pork belly was a slab of approx 2in by 4in under cooked fat with chewy rind. There were 2 grilled prawns that when you cut their heads off, this dark head juice oozed out this was a turn off.
There were 3 bits of chorizo sausage sitting on a dollop of what tasted like tomato relish, the relish was good. The best part of this place is sitting at a table at the edge of the water and watching fish swimming around, that was entertaining us while we waited and waited.

Sat outside and as soon as we had ordered, a microphone inside piped up for the business conference going on inside, which we didnt' know about until it was too late to leave.
Food for 2 adults was average, but when our 6 year old ordered the chicken, a plate of sorry looking nuggets arrived. If you are serving nuggets, call them nuggets, not chicken! He might be 6, but he isn't stupid. We could have got those from McDonalds around the corner much cheaper (Maybe that's where Saks got them from!)
Waiter never asked how our meals were, even when he cleared our son's plate away with 5 uneaten nuggets on it. If he had we would have explained why he didn't get a tip, instead he glared at us when he picked up our payment.
Not going back, we ate at 3 of the surf clubs (Southport, Northcliffe and Kurrawa) while we were there and all 3 had better food, better service, better value and better views.

Had lunch there on a wet day. Sat inside, outside looked nice, but was wet. Surly service, bottle of water dumped on the table, presumably to pour yourself in the wine glasses? Special of the day was whiting in a soggy batter. The scallops were on a bed of tasteless sludge. Tired salads. Chips were nice. Summary, nice setting, don't bother with the food.

Went here with a party of 10 for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated inside and I could swear I was in a nightclub, not a restaurant. I understand that the place does become a bar/club with dance floor venue on a Saturday night, but I couldn't hear myself over the DJ's music from 8 pm when we were all still trying to have dinner!
We all only ordered a main course for dinner, and then we sat there and waited for almost 2 hours for our food to arrive! I don't care what restaurant I am in, waiting 2 hours for a main course is unforgivable! To make matters worse I watched a table of two was seated 20 minutes after we arrived, they ordered both entrees and main courses and they received both their courses before we did!
In fact by the time we received our mains after complaining twice, they were almost finished their desserts. The food itself was ok, but my dish which was barramundi was just ok, nothing out of the ordinary and I've had way better dishes at other restaurants. Perhaps, this restaurant would be better visiting for lunch or during a weeknight.

Went here with my hubby whilst holidaying on the gold coast. Service was excellent could not fault it what so ever. Had for the entree lemon calamari, entree size was huge, and was the nicest calamari I have ever had, very tender, just delicious. Had the veal with mushrooms for main, a little bit disappointing, the mash potato was horrible, all lumpy. Skipped dessert, nice coffee to finish. 2nd time we have been here whilst on the gold coast, would come here again.

Have been to this restaurant a few times now and everytime nothing faults them. The seafood is always so fresh, especially the balmain bugs, they are my favourite dish. The wait staff are wonderful, and even though you can sit outside on the boardwalk, you are not forgotten about like many other places.
Highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner, or just a casual get together.
