Only 3 out of 4 meals arrived. Twice requested the missing meal and twice was told there was an error and it was being cooked now. Arrived 3 minutes after we cancelled order as the others had finished their meals. When we went to pay it was still on the bill. We explained the situation to the 'supervisor' who interrogated us as to whether we had 'consumed' the meal! When we asked to see the manager he was far too busy to come and see us. Instead asked for our phone number so the owner could ring and interrogate us! Wait staff friendly - supposed supervisor and manager shocking. Happened to a few people that morning and restaurant wasn't full. Have since written to the restaurant for the owners input on the situation but not surprisingly - no response. Will never go back.

Avoid Mermaids at all costs! It took 30 minutes for us to receive drinks, and another half an hour and several complaints before our entrees arrived. We ended up cancelling our main meals- and ended up at the local pub for a feed. The service was non- existent- the manager ran and hid as one of the waiters was brave enough to cop the abuse from the majority of customers. The food was ok, but was far too expensive for what it was. The excuses that the kitchen was busy fell on deaf ears- as the restaurant was only 30% occupied. We were not the only table to walk out, perhaps the owners/managers could learn from this?

I have been here a couple of times but I won't go back. The location/view has got to be one of the best in Australia. Unfortunately the food,service and value do not match-in the end its not worth it.

Location and ambience, ocean views, wonderful. Service welcoming and attentive. Decor shabby. Lunch was expensive and very ordinary.

TERRIFIC LOCATION. GREAT FOOD FRIENDLY STAFF. HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS RESTAURAN

Terrific location, great food and friendly staff. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Had breakfast at Mermaids on Sunday morning. Fabulous location right on the beach at the base of Burleigh Heads. Had a great table with unobstructed views across the surf to the north. Reasonable crowd but not packed. Nice variety of menu items. Beaut freshly squeezed OJ. Friendly staff BUT COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW SLOW THE SERVICE WAS.

Waitress was apologetic but when she said the cook was waiting for the omelette to finish cooking, I wondered if she actually should have said, the chef was waiting for the hen to lay the eggs! Nearly 1 hour before our meals arrived, TOO SLOW even if you are looking for a relaxing brunch.
