I am surprised that all other reviewers said the service was friendly as I found it to be appalling. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day or was it because I dared ask what kind of lettuce they served with their salad? As I am on a special diet, I can only eat iceberg lettuce, and when I asked if this is what came with the salad, the male owner replied 'horrible stuff'.
When I told him this was all I could eat he replied 'lettuce is lettuce isn't it'! Not very accomodating... Then when I asked for some extra lemon with my fish, he simply nodded curtly. When the extra lemon did not arrive with the meal and I had to go back in to ask for it he said 'I can't hear a word you're saying, you'll just have to wait out there til I'm finished!'
Then when his wife came out and I asked her for some she told me it would be $1 for the extra lemon! I couldn't believe my ears! The 'extra serving' of lemon turned out to be two tiny slivers which would have barely equaled a quarter of a lemon! The setting certainly was beautiful and the restaurant itself and gardens were lovely, but the service was terrible.
There are a few cafes in Springbrook and I wish I had known this and not chosen this one as I thought it was the only one. The meals were overpriced and the fish and chips was awful (I can't believe someone else said it was the best they'd tasted!) - horrible fish and dry chips - not at all worth the $19 they charged!
And charging for extra lemon is just daylight robbery. If a person chooses your cafe above the others, and I am guessing that they don't get a huge amount of business between them up there, then you should at least be friendly! Worst eating experience ever!

My wife and I spotted this place as we drove up to Springbrook and stopped off on a whim. The setting is lovely and the restaurant has a pleasant ambience - though I did find the various notices regarding paying for the toilets if you're not a customer, etc a little in your face. The prices seemed reasonable for the location though watch out for the 15% surcharge on public holidays mentioned in small print at the bottom of the menu.
The service was very friendly and accommodating, with the owners keen that we were well taken care of. Sadly, as a result of a previous review, they almost refused to serve me a takeaway milkshake as they'd been criticised for the small size (apparently they only have takeaway coffee cups at present). After a little pleading they split the drink across two cups and we left happy - the milkshake was excellent.

My husband and I drove from Brisbane today to see Springbrook. We came across this beautiful cafe. My husband had chicken and Mushroom Pie I had gourmet sandwich. They were both fantastic the flovours incredible. I have never reported on a restaurant before but I feel this place should be talked about.
The ambience is great the music fits the cafe to a tee and the birds feeding in the garden were a joy. The couple running the cafe were very friendly and it shows they love the place. I will be going back and taking my elderly parents because I know they will love it.

Was very disappointed when last weekend we ordered take away drinks including a milkshake and an iced coffee. The lady charged us $5 each for the drinks which came in a small coffee container. I felt very cheated and won't be going there again. PS Have rated drinks a 6 as they were okay just miniscule and very overpriced. I'm ashamed of myself for not complaining but there were other people there and the woman didn't look like she was going to change her mind!

What a beautiful setting for a garden restaurant, overlooking the Gold Coast. The scones are amazing! Can't wait for them to open for dinners this month. Fast efficient great value what more could we ask for. Thanx again. We will be back!
