One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Must give 2 big thumbs up to our waiters they were great both funny and on the ball. Wish we had a Garlands back home.

Two ordinary steaks. The eye fillet my wife had was tender enough but not tasty and lacked any juices?!

My Waygu was chewy, not on. Service was average at best. They seemed to know that what they were serving was disappointing and were happy we left without complaining.

I'm from Sydney and been to Showchef Teppanyaki and Kobe Jones Teppanyaki. After I went to Benihana, I can say with hand on heart that Benihana is the best teppanyaki that I've been to in Australia.

We had the worst evening possible to uncontrolled screaming children, 3 children under 3 screamed all night, plus a really rude waiter made our night hell, he queried mustard and salt and obviously did not understand butterflied steak.

Waitress was friendly enough but service incredibly slow, took 15 minutes to get drinks, asked especially for kids food to come first yet arrived after mains, 3 of mains were wrong, one main sent back twice, plates never cleared even when kids dessert was being served, which we had to ask for, the senior staff came to apologize and blamed it on the kitchen (bad form), all in all a very disappointing experience given the prices.

At a loose end and previous visits to other Hogs Breath's have been disappointing (Adelaide and Port Douglas) we decided to venture into the basement of this venue in the nastiness of Cavill Mall.

Our main beef (no pun intended) is the much promoted prime rib, which for whatever reason seems to be out of stock on every visit. With fingers crossed we went to order.

I wouldn't normally review such a place, but the service for a blonde called Jess was so awesome, so complete, that she needed recognition. She was funny, genuine and was across everything a diner needed. We joked about the prime rib never being available but she rushed off to check. Slight adjustments to our order of the prime rib w/calamari was checked by Jess and came out perfect. The blackened rib was absolutely massive (even though cooked to well done, not medium as requested was saved by the steak being so tender).

We ordered a bottle of red which was dumped on our table with two glasses by a different waitress leaving the bottle unopened and not a word uttered from her, and we told Jess this later. Jess told us she normally works the bar and was just helping out on the floor for the night, but really, we watched her sell up anything to other diners and it was light entertainment while we dined.

We paid by credit card but tipped her directly. Out of the 70 or so reviews I've done nothing compares to the lively and engaging banter of this girl.

Aside from that the venue itself is like a basement fitted out substandard to other HBC's I've been to, the extra $2 serve of sauce is minuscule to pair with your food, but for two massive steaks and a bottle of wine under $100 is pretty good going when done well.

Now I just want a HBC for the same price without the franchise feel.

I ate here about a week ago on a friday night, and ended up hanging around for a few drinks well into the night for their 'Ladies Night' not only was my food amazing but the service from both restaurant and bar staff was great.

Since the new owners have taken over (who introduced himself to me and our table!) the service has improved incredibly. I'll be going back there!

We knew this was a little more expensive than similar style restaurants so waited for a special occasion to try it out. Disappointing. I had a half rack of pork ribs ($31) and fries. I was given a very stingy serve of fries. Hubby had full rack of beef ribs and fries. My teen had a burger (which she loved) and my 6 year old had the kids meal with a burger, which was served with more chips than my rib meal. The kids enjoyed their meals.

The ribs were average, we've had much better. We had a drink spill at our table which I apologised to the waitress for, to which she said, "That's okay" but then did nothing about it. As we had no napkins, it sat there until the next time she wandered past and I asked for it to be wiped. So two ribs, a burger, a kids meal, 3 soft drinks and one cocktail was over $120. Probably won't go back.

Don't Bother! This restaurant used to have fantastic food and lovely management, we were frequent customers. Sadly that has changed for the worse.

We booked a birthday dinner and our night was spoiled by the terrible food, which was tasteless and took 90 minutes to arrive at our table, terrible service, slow, unfriendly staff, who completed the credit card transaction at our table (how rude) and took forever to take our orders, and the other staff - who forgot 2 meals and they said the kitchen was small, that's why things were taking so long. Totally unbelievable! There were only about 15 people in the restaurant!

At the end of the night, the only compensation made was not charging for a meal that was forgotten (I should think so!) and giving us 2 bottles of water free of charge, how pathetic. The management did not even come to apologise and tried to ignore us as we left.

The Birthday dinner was a total disaster, our night was ruined and I was embarrassed for inviting everyone there. After one of our party contacted the management about our poor experience, he was given a short sharp reply that was a personal attack, rather than an apology or explanation. Clearly the management have no concern about the quality or reputation of their restaurant.

We will never go back there again, and I urge any potential customers to stay away. If you want good food and exceptional service, go somewhere else at Sanctuary Cove.

We didn't receive the meal as we ordered it. We informed them... they offered to re-cook despite turning many customers away due to lack of staff even though restaurant was quite empty. No discount offered even after being presented with wrong bill. Manager referred to but never seen. Don't bother!

Went there on a Saturday night, four of us, place was pumping and did not have a booking. No problem, found us a nice table, had drinks on the table within one minute and had put our order in at the counter simple. No waiting for the waiter to arrive, read the spiel get it right etc etc.

Meals arrived in 20 minutes, fantastic. We had 2 T-bone huge and tasty, cooked to perfection, a medallion of eye, tender as and I had the Yahoo BBQ ribs which are to die for. Ordered a bottle of Katnook Shiraz which went sensationally with the food, fresh water was offered and night was a total success.

Service efficient, without being pretensious, food perfect without all the expensive sides, and drinks priced as you would expect. All in all a very enjoyable night, probably why the place has been there as long as it has, all the fundamentals of a busy, highly awarded Restaurant were evident.

Have been to this Hogs Breath before and had a better meal. Not sure whether it was just that night. My husband ordered the beef wrap and if you could find the meat it was nothing but grissle, and I had the prime steak which was so bland and fatty. It was supposed to be cajun? Very poor quality!

This place is amazing. Tables waited by the owners, excellent hospitality. Still currently BYO. My partner and I eat here all the time. The food can only be described as amazing. Nothing but good experiences every time.

Hidden gem! Dinky location but the best steak and ribs I've had in a very long time. The ribs especially,and best of all the bill didn't wipe me out!
