Went there on a Saturday night, four of us, place was pumping and did not have a booking. No problem, found us a nice table, had drinks on the table within one minute and had put our order in at the counter simple. No waiting for the waiter to arrive, read the spiel get it right etc etc.

Meals arrived in 20 minutes, fantastic. We had 2 T-bone huge and tasty, cooked to perfection, a medallion of eye, tender as and I had the Yahoo BBQ ribs which are to die for. Ordered a bottle of Katnook Shiraz which went sensationally with the food, fresh water was offered and night was a total success.

Service efficient, without being pretensious, food perfect without all the expensive sides, and drinks priced as you would expect. All in all a very enjoyable night, probably why the place has been there as long as it has, all the fundamentals of a busy, highly awarded Restaurant were evident.

I went to Cav's a couple of weeks ago. My group ordered 3 steaks, all of them 'Medium', one arrived very well done, one medium rare and only one medium as requested. As for "Export quality Rib", forget it, it was full of gristle, not fat, gristle. I cooked better quality steaks on my BBQ the day before so felt pretty ripped off.

The service was poor at best with inexperienced staff who clearly know nothing about food. The presentation of the food on the plate was poor also. If you're a foodie don't bother. If you want something only slightly better than Sizzler you'll be happy. Cav's is a dinosaur living on it's reputation from 20 years ago. With respect to other reviewers these are far from the best steaks in Australia or the world.

I was so disappointed with the place after all the hype about it the entree wagu snags were overcooked and so dry they were like little bits of biscuits, my husbands main was okay but my chicken was served with so little sauce you would miss it, ontop of grey mash potato all floating in water! It was aweful and when mentioned to the waitress we got a humph really! What the? Won't be back ever and would no recommend, do not even get me started on the decor.

Went for dinner while on holidays, absolutely amazing food, fast pleasant service highly recommended for all.

Ambience was a bit like an American diner, even the style of chairs, however, service and food were both fantastic. Waiter had a good knowledge of wine. You select your own piece of meat and they cook it for you exactly how you want. Also have some seafood. Oysters were good quality.

If you want to eat the best steak in Australia (maybe in the world!), just go there! Choose what meat you want to eat and they cook it perfectly. Great for overseas visitors, too. Services are good and we had a great time. Problem is transportation. Catching a bus back to surfers was painful!
