Well done Char for doing so well and winning the ‘restaurant of the year’ award! I’m a big fan of your restaurant and an even bigger fan of the food. Looking forward to coming back soon.

A lovely setting for a nice Darwin evening but... Don't you love it when the staff blame other staff (for losing our booking)? In any case, the seats they were now giving us were better than the front ones, because "they put trainees in the front section, here you get the best trained staff!"
And then when you're offered a special (by two different staff) only to find after you've placed your order that it's finished for the night. We were supposed to be ok about this, after all they only order 10 servings for the evening! And it was fairly early on a busy Friday night.
The waiter was great and clearly trying to make us feel better. And the two methods fish dish for two was good. The steak offering was poor for the price.
We decided to go somewhere else for dessert and another drink, not feeling particularly enamoured of the place.
Overall very disappointing for a higher end restaurant.

Char looked inviting, the menu looked interesting, so in we went. We chose the "fish two ways", it was excellent. One fillet was removed and chilli roasted, the rest of the fish was crisp fried. The bit with the bones was standing up on the plate, with the fillet and some green pawpaw salad nestled inside the curve. Three sauces (wasabi mayo, nam jim and soy and something) arrived on a small tray. There was also some saffron rice.
Both treatments of the fish were delicious, as were the sauces. A squeeze of lime juice perked up the pawpaw salad. I would prefer more ginger in the salad dressing, this may be my fondness for fresh ginger, and of dressings with a bit of attitude. The wine list was a pleasant surprise, we were spoilt for choice. Service was excellent, the outdoor dining area was perfect on this pleasant evening.
