I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews! Since I moved here from sydney in 2010 I have never had a bad experience! The food has always been excellent and the service is very welcoming and genuine.

On holidays in Canberra and just picked this restaurant by walking along. This service is fine, friendly and welcoming and fast. The stir fry and curry were average to good. But the chicken satay (what we always order at Thai because our young daughters like it) was the worst we have ever had! The meat was disgusting (like compressed off-cuts on to the stick, maybe made off-site in bulk)and the flavour was foul. One bite and we sent it back, no charge.

Then the mixed entree, just things out of the freezer I suspect, again the spring roll was disgusting, you couldn't eat it. Weird flavours. Someone should check whats going on in the kitchen of this place!

I moved to Canberra from Sydney, and have been disappointed at the lack of quality cheap Thai places here. Zen Yai is a welcome change. It's more a restaurant than a take-away (though they do take-away and delivery, 10% discount if you collect it and pay in cash!). I stick to the pad thai and am never disappointed. It's no Doy Tao (Sydney), but it's good enough to keep me going back, and the prices are reasonable.

We made a mistake dining here! Perhaps, the worst Thai restaurant in Canberra, poor service combined with very average food made this an experience best forgotten.

Terrible service and mediocre food for the price they were charging. We waited 45 minutes for basic noodle dishes. Very disappointing.

Worst dining experience for a long time. Basic entree not homemade. Mains very hot with poor food quality. Service dreadful.
