The restaurant seemed well laid out and we were tempted to dine here, but we wisely opted for take-away instead. We figured that this alternative would be far more economical fearing high premiums charged for dining-in.
Our fare consisted of Balik Buglama (Barramundi cooked with tomato, onion, capsicum and mushrooms in a creamy sauce, served with rice and salad), and Karisik Grill (mixture of lamb and chicken kebab, lamb cutlet and kofte served with rice and salad).
The Balik Buglama was absolutely delicious and sumptious. The kebabs and kofte were well marinated and tasty, the lamb cutlet a tad dry and tough. Having visited Turkey and savoured the food there, I must say that these two dishes from Turk'Oz were fairly authentic in flavour. We subsequently checked the prices on the dine-in menu on the Turk'Oz website, and are glad that we did not dine-in!

We stumbled upon this place whilst trawling through the Dickson restaurant precinct looking for somewhere to eat on a Sun night and were lured inside by the menu pasted to the window. Prices looked reasonable enough, plus we figured, a change from Asian would be nice too.
But once inside and comfortably seated, we were shown the real menu (the one outside is the takeaway one!) What a shock. Starters were $15 and average price for mains around $23. But by this time, we were too embarrassed and too tired (after a day’s driving) to leave so we just ordered one shared starter and two mains. That set us back $61, which is a bit exorbitant for a Canberra restaurant, especially one with virtually no atmosphere and just a smattering of other guests.
By the time we left at around 8.45 pm it was almost empty, which isn’t surprising with these prices and when there are so many other cheaper places nearby. Having said all that, the food is fresh and tasty and served up in huge portions, so you’ll never leave here hungry. Our mixed starter had cabbage rolls, lady fingers and vegetable dumplings, two of each.
For mains we had the chicken skewers (sis tavuk) and the lamb skewers (sis kebab). All mains served with rice and salad. The palace itself is nicely laid out with posters of Turkey on the wall, pleasantly coloured walls, carpets and comfortable tables. I guess with a few more diners it could have some spirit.
Noise levels are fine (but that’s no surprise given the paucity of guests), and service was friendly and efficient although our waitress didn’t seem to know her dishes particularly well. Easy parking anywhere in the area and nice clean, well marked toilets.

This used to be our favourite restaurant, but our most recent visit was appalling. A modification due to food allergy was requested for one meal. This meal came with the allergen containing item, a meat ball, still included as well as the replacement. So the meatball was offered to another person at the table who found it inedible due to being improperly cooked and raw in the middle.
When the bill was presented the inedible meat ball was billed as an extra. This was questioned and intially removed from the bill. Then no less than three staff members came to argue with us about the charge. The kitchen staff eventually came out to the table and started arguing very loudly, over the top of everyone about the charge, which after all was only $3. We left our money, minus the $3 and walked out with the comment that we would never be returning.
