I live 100m away from this restaurant. Tried it a long time ago and found the food was great but the service terrible. Never went again until today. It's under new management but with the same chef. What a difference!
The service was very friendly and top class and the food was still fantastic. This is the freshest, most flavoursome Thai I've personally had. I would recommend it to everyone now. And what a great location too. The new owners also open for lunch - I think Thurs to Sun.
For everyone who had a bad experience in the past try it again and for those that haven't tried it yet, give it a go you're in for a pleasant surprise. Oh and there's a great antiques store next door just opened now too, just thought I'd throw that in.

Came here a couple of years ago and it wasn't great but something has changed! The service was excellent. Food much better than before! I will go again.

Food over there is great. But the service was just terrible. Me and my friends ordered three dishes and they all came in different time. We were expecting to have all the dishes at once but each dish came approx. 15 - 25 minutes. I would order take away but wouldn't dine in there. Never.

We have only eaten here once and once was enough. Without doubt this restaurant must have the worst atmosphere of any Thai restaurant we have been to (framed travel agency posters etc). The service was slow but I must say the food did arrive hot and taste good. The prices did seem a little high considering the service but Gungahlin is very limited for choices in Thai cuisine.

Seeing all the review, we decided to give it a go for a good authentic thai food, and it was great food! Very tasty, just so full of flavour and tastes so fresh. Unfortunately, the service was not on the same level at all, it doesn't reflect the value for money given the price is not cheap as well.
So the three of us each order entree and main. What we didn't expect is that each entree came about roughly 15-20 minutes separately, then main came one by one with about the same interval for each main as well. Ha! we were so hungry and imagine how we ended up dividing each main everytime it arrived, because we don't know when the next one gonna be served! Seems like there's only 1 cook and only 1 waiter for half full seat that night.
All in all, I would be happy to have takeaway from this place but maybe it will take a long time before we decide to have a celebration there again.

My family also loves this great Thai restaurant. The food is always so fresh. They do a wonderfully spicy and tasty stir fried basil and chilli dish, we've enjoyed it with duck or prawns. The chicken larb and the red and green curries we've tried have also been excellent. Make the effort to find Thai Herb, the food really is worth it.

Like reviewer flux, I am also a huge fan of Thai food. My wife and I spend a few months a year in Thailand and are very familiar with Thai cuisine. Thai Herb prepares truly authentic central Thai food, just as you would get at a top class establishment in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Some dishes are quite hot, but if you prefer food "mai pet" (not hot) or "pet nit noi" (a little bit hot), just mention this when ordering and they will adjust it for you.
On the other hand, if you want some "prik naam plaa" (chopped hot chilli in fish sauce) to adjust the taste, they will happily serve this for you too. It is in a somewhat out of the way location in Gungahlin, and often seems to have few customers. But if you are after top quality Thai food, don't let any of that put you off. This is the real deal, and they deserve strong support for their superb culinary efforts. Easily the best Thai in Canberra.

Being a big fan of Thai food, both in Australia and Thailand, I am astounded that word hasn't got around about Thai Herb. It has the best Thai food I've eaten in Canberra, hands down. I've eaten there maybe a dozen times and have not yet encountered a dud dish. Their approach, sadly lacking in many other Thai restaurants, is food prepared in genuine Thai style with generous quantities of fresh herbs and condiments. Should be a no-brainer but it's rare. If you like seafood, the deep-fried fish salad is particularly good.
It's in a rather obscure location, which probably accounts for it's sporadic patronage, but this shouldn't deter the genuine Thai food lover. All that's missing is the heat and a tuk tuk to take you home.
