Whilst this was a cheap night out it was a disappointing one. Yes we arrived with a group of 9 rather than 8, but the restaurant was half empty and yet the staff were remote and difficult in organising an extra place. We were made to feel like nuisance. The food was fairly ordinary. The only plus was that the "relaxed" service meant we could happily stay and chat as long as we liked. But there must be better Thai food in Canberra!

We enjoyed a lovely meal here early one Saturday night when looking for a quick dinner stop before heading home. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly - and we were made to feel welcome and looked after (not always the case when you are dining out with a toddler/pram). Our order of Massaman beef, and ginger pork stirfry (with vegetables upon request) arrived at our table extremely quickly and we enjoyed every mouthful. When back in Canberra, we would definitely return if in the area.

My husband and I dined at the Thai Chiang Rai Restaurant last night. What a disappointment. We started with Thai Fish Cakes, leathery. Then went on to Coconut Batttered Prawns, the prawns were old and tired, the batter like cardboard. The Scallops and Macadamias should have been listed as Scallops and Macadamia (I found 1!) and, like the prawns the scallops were past their prime.
The only saving grace of the meal was the Soy Duck, not too bad at all. All in all a very expensive disappointment. We live locally and would like to be able to walk up the street to enjoy an informal meal but we won't be visiting the Thai Chiang Rai again ever!

Decent neighbourhood Thai. Enjoyed the noodle dishes and the house specialty, macadamia scallops. Unfortunately, was very let down by the desserts, too-cold supermarket cheesecake, which they charge $10 for!

Friendly but sloppy service combine with very mediocre food to give a forgettable dining experience. My Special Fried Rice was only notable for the suspect prawn that I discarded. Give this one a miss.
