Overall it is a very good restaurant but the skill of the kitchen staff and the food price could be better. We got the menu with the prawn and to our surprise there was only one single lonely prawn in our dish!

The food was quite good. It's certainly not fine dining but I had a nice meal and the staff were friendly. I had the set meal with teriyaki fish and thought it was well-presented and there wasn't much of a wait before the food was served.

Went on a Tues night just before New Years, they clearly were expecting a quiet night as they only had 1 chef on, but the place was packed. We were at the teppanyaki, so while the chef was preparing the meals in the back kitchen, 24 people just sat and waited. When he came out to cook for us, everyone else in the restaurant has nothing to eat. Tiny servings, we left hungry, the people next to us didn't receive their miso soup, the chicken was still frozen when it hit the hot plate. The staff were lovely, but they just couldn't keep up. Never again.

Having lived in Japan I can say that I judge the quality of Japanese food in part by the fond memories evoked by the taste. That said, I can also say that Shogun is not what it used to be. The food here was quite ordinary and the service was as bad.
The miso soup did not taste authentic at all. Missing were the seaweed and tofu. Mine had but a few onion rings and was quite tasteless. In terms of service I don't think it is too much to expect everyone at the table to be served at the same time, instead of one guest waiting for ages. Food was put on our table that was meant for another table. It was later taken from our table and served to the correct customer. If this had happened to me I would have refused the dish.
When I first visited Shogun around 8-10 years ago it was a premier Japanese restaurant. This is no longer true and I won't return.

This was one of the few restaurants that had tables available at 7pm on a Friday night, so my husband and I gave it a go. We chose the set menu, thinking that we'd be full if we had it. We were so wrong. Where do I begin. Well the set dinner turned out to be an extra small servings of everything. The main was a not very nice chicken dish (think slivers of chicken and store bought sauce, once piece of boiled cauliflower and one slimy mushroom).
The 'dessert' was a tiny scoop of (what tasted like) No Frills ice-cream with three pieces of canned fruit and inconsequential frothy cream. The diced canned fruit pieces were close to being non-existent that the waitress served it saying "ice-cream with no fruit" and upon being told I asked for no such thing, says "oh no wait, it does have fruit" and I had to strain my eyes to find the fruit. Hubby and I paid $60 for something that should have cost us $10. Will not be going here again!

The food here was a little disappointing, the menu was not very varied (wish there were some noodle dishes!) and the teriyaki a little bland. The staff were so lovely, though, and the salad was also really good.

Seeking some family fun with a Teppanyaki dinner, we were initially disappointed to being directed to the traditional area where sitting on cushions on the floor is the norm. The disappointment was very short lived, as this proved to be the perfect environment for the traditional Japanese dinner that ensued.
Each dish in the set menu was an authentic delight, and the service staff were so friendly and accommodating that we could easily have decided to eat here for three meals every day.
To begin, a surprising and tasty hot appetizer followed by the best sashimi I've ever eaten, sushi, salad, soup, skewers, main, pickles and dessert. Each dish was expertly presently to please both heart and stomach and the ceremony that went with each was fabulous fun for this family of four.
A delight on every level!
