Our group of 4 went to Sanur's with no expectations, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel to it, not too fancy, which mirrored the whole Balinese theme. The curve on the building makes it a unique piece of architecture, so you don't feel like you are sitting in any old restaurant.
When it came to the food, the duck pancake entree was just incredible, the paw paw sauce that comes with it is just mind blowing, which made us very curious as to how the rest of the mean would go. The mains (migoreng and nasigoreng) were all just as good, beautifully presented and cheap at the price. The 3 shared desserts we ordered took it to a whole new level, all home made and simply divine, leaving us wanting more.
One of the best dining experiences we'd ever had, let alone in Canberra, and certainly one of the best value for what we paid. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

My favourite Canberran restaurant by far, the Nasi Goreng is fantastic. The waiters and waitresses are always so lovely and accommodating. There aren't many restaurants around like this one, it's the whole package. My partner and I eat here at least once a month.

We all arrived by 6:15 and ordered a banquet so we could try a range of food as we'd never had Balinese before. The staff were friendly and helpful. We said we needed to leave by 7 and that's when we walked out the door. The food was great! A wonderful set of new tastes. We took a takeaway menu and will come back again.

This is one of the better restaurants in Belconnen (there really isn't much competition). The food has been consistently tasty, service is friendly and efficient. Try the deep fried tomato eggplant. Surprisingly light, fluffy and tasty. Value, compared to Sydney, poor. For Canberra, average.

I hadn't tried Balinese food before, highly impressed, very nice attention to detail, service, flavours. Can't wait to go back and keep on trying dishes!

I am new to Indonesian cuisine, but I'm nearly finished working my way through the menu and I am thrilled to have this restaurant in Canberra.

This place is a little gem. The Opor Ayam is amazing, and the lunch menu is extremely good value. We're constantly bringing friends here, and so far have had no complaints. I think I've covered nearly half the menu and am yet to find something that I don't like.

Not really familiar with Indonesian cuisine which may explain my food rating of 'Mediocre'. Our party of 7 ordered the Lombok banquet for a Fri night dinner. As I have a shellfish allergy the restaurant kindly provided a veg substitute for the two dishes (entree and main) just for me.
Service a little poor: Ordered a simple ginger ale with others but had to chase mine when it failed to turn up. My 'special dish' was just plonked down randomly without asking who it was for or that it was the non-shellfish dish.
Dessert: After reading the +ve review here about the black sticky rice in coconut milk with pineapple pieces, I was very disappointed with the result (needed convincing it had coconut milk as the taste was frankly awful, you really need to add all the bits to it before consuming ie. rice + pineapple + ice cream).
Noisy ambience. Won't be back in a hurry.

Being of Chinese-Indonesian background, having spent time in Indonesia and growing up in Sydney with its abundance of good Indonesian restaurants (and my mother and her friends' good cooking), I was pleased to discover Sanur's existed, and thrilled when I finally tried it. I've been there twice in the past week and both times thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
The food was excellent and presented well. I had the Opor Ayam (coconut chicken curry) both times, also tried the Udang Mentega (butter/sweet soy sauce prawns) and Daging Bakar (grilled beef) and a few other dishes which have escaped my memory (but they were good!). The prices were a little more expensive than Indo restaurants in Sydney, but given that this is Canberra, it's the only Indonesian restaurant you can eat dinner at here, and the food was delicious, it's worth it.
The service was also fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly on my second visit, when our group ended up being larger than expected. They happily offered and then helped us to move to a larger table, and the extra dishes we ordered to feed the additions came out quickly. They also offered to 'tone down the chilli' in one of the dishes when I mentioned that I couldn't eat hot food (pathetic for an Asian, I know. My Caucasian friend who accompanied me has vowed to go back so she can try the dish at full strength).
I can't wait to go back and am already planning my next visit so I can continue to work my way through the menu.
