After reading all the reviews we were expecting something really good but we were disappointed. We ordered the banquet. The food and service were well timed, however, the food was average except for the entree mushrooms which were divine. The bread served with the dips was bland commercial lebanese bread and we found the amount of food for a banquet not enough.

We arrived on Sunday evening after a long day and were made to feel immediately at home by both the waiters. The ambience was first class with beautiful decor and tables well spaced. With my wife and I were two relatives from Italy and it was with some degree of trepidation that we ordered the banquet for 4. Well each course delivered was superb and more than enough for 6 let alone the 4 of us. My Italian cousins were extremely happy with the restaurant, food, staff and the wine that we were able to bring with us. Well done Saffron and next time in Manuka we will definitely be back unfortunately from my cousin's point of view they will have returned Italy.

Great service and delicious food. My favourites are Samkeh Harrah (baked fish with chilli and nuts), Sayadiya (fish with tahini and rice) and Imam Bayuldi (eggpland and cous cous). They are the best in Canberra for Middle-Eastern seafood dishes and they have a really comprehensive wine list. They have also agreed to cater a Christmas party for me this month for $10 a head - easily the best quote I've had!

Ate here with a family group of 8 including 2 very small children. The food was delicious and plentiful but the mains took way too long to arrive and the kids were pretty out of it by the time they did. The waitress was friendly, helpful and apologetic about the delay, there was obviously some problem in the kitchen. When one of our group complained about the delay and also about the fact that a vegan option we had enquired about when we booked was not available on the night, we were offered a 10% refund, which seemed reasonable. I recommend this place for the food, table service and ambience but don't take little kids!

All I can say is that I have been there once and had the banquet, a scrumptious array of delicious food, definitely very yum and abundant. Have heard mixed reviews but in my experience it was fantastic.

My sister had recently been here and mentioned that Laurie Oakes was eating here on the same night. I thought if it is good enough for the man whose name goes hand in hand with the city, then it's good enough for me.
Laurie isn't wrong about too many things, and this further emphasises his reputation. The food was great (as someone else mentions, go the mezze for two), however, as I don't get paid as much as Laurie does next time I eat out in Canberra it might be somewhere a little cheaper.
Book ahead, as you will struggle to get a table if you just turn up. The night that we were there, plenty of people were turned away as the place was packed.

Went here based on friends recommendation. Food was 50/50, zucchini fritters absolutely fantastic, baked mushrooms were bland and terrible. Beef was nice but nothing special i.e. I could have cooked it at home myself. Great vegetarian main of sultanas, wheat bread and onions.
Ambience ok but nothing great (you look through the window into the movies foyer). Service good but once again not superb.

Had read reviews on this and other sites. My wife and I ordered the banquet for 2. All food was delicious, plenty of it and it was outstanding. All the meat dishes were from the main menu including the signature dish and it was wonderful to have a range of the different taste experiences. Restaurant was packed on a Saturday night but the service from the waitress was excellent, prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. Great to have one of the owners also come out and explain the dishes. Arrival of food was well spaced. Finished with the sorbets. Will definitely return for this taste sensation.

After searching online for a wheelchair accessible and Greek Restaurant we decided on Saffron. It was a bit of a struggle to get the wheelchair through the back door, (our friend has MS) but we managed and I was on crutches (minor op) which also didn't help.
We were impressed with service and the ambience. We had a banquet and we all enjoyed our food, (although I didn't really see any 'Greek dishes' on the menu) I would like to go back there and try individual dishes next time. It is a bit expensive though when you add drinks, desserts and coffee. But I would rate this restaurant as a place to go back to.

We had the Mezze banquet for four. The dips were definitely home made and were extremely tasty, with ample supplies (and resupply) of warm bread. The star of the night was the grilled meat. Chicken and lamb extremely tender and tasty.
Finished with turkish delight, Baklawa and poached pairs, enough for the four of us. Even though we were all extremely full we could resist such temptation.
Service was excellent. Only minor thing I didn't like was the aroma of cinema pop corn when we first got there, but was quickly forgotten.
