The food was great. Meat dishes were mainly meat, not with heaps of vegetable fillers. Battered chicken dishes were some of the best I have ever had. Batter was quite thin and not oily. Portion sizes were good. A good indicator for authenticity is that a large number of Chinese/Asian people eat at the restaurant. We will be eating there again and could become one of our favourites. Fried ice cream balls were not the best I've had. They were a bit like ice and coconut.
I went out for Yum Cha lunch with my family today and we had a wonderful meal. Two people at our table, including myself, are vegetarian and I had worried that there may not be enough variety. I was completely wrong as the waitress went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of.
We also had a young child with us and the staff were most accommodating and very patient with him. The food was served promptly, hot and most of all it was delicious. The service was very friendly and the price at the end of the meal was surprisingly cheap. Our only regret was that we could not fit more in!!
The food is very bland with little care in cooking. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to experience tasteless food. The service leaves a lot to be desired, the wait between mains is ridiculous, do not try the fried ice cream balls, it is more like icewater and coconut balls.
We were looking for an authentic Yum Cha experience here in Canberra and happily we can recommend the Prince Palace Chinese Restaurant. We (my partner and I) went on a Public Holiday Monday and the place was packed to the rafters with a healthy mix of Happy diners from all backgrounds all nattering away over lunch.
We were very impressed with both the service and the attitude of staff where nothing seemed to bother them and they were extremely helpful and pleasant. The food offerings were plentiful and tasty with an abundance of fresh, traditional Yum Cha dishes, which, we both enjoyed. The food seemed to just keep coming and when we finished our culinary experience, we felt suitably full and most contented. After realising that we had been there for nearly two hours of culinary indulgence, we decided to settle our account and were most impressed with the value for money we received once handed the bill.
These days to walk out from an eatery, feeling totally full for less than $35 per person is a rarity. These operators obviously understand the meaning of "value for money" which goes a long way these days. We are planning to return here for Yum Cha again soon and can thoroughly recommend this restaurant to all who seek a quality dining experience at a fair and reasonable price. Well done Prince Palace, where we ate, like Kings!
