I'm surprised how people think the food is good. We ordered soups and it was bland like a cup of hot water with a bit of noodles. The mains were also bland and needed lots of condiments to give it any taste and zest. It was nothing near original Chinese food. I guess they are trying to cater for a sanitised Anglo palate. I don't think it's the restaurants fault but more the bland taste of its customers. Service was good, portions were large. But overall it was expensive.

Our favourite Chinese in Canberra. Awesome pepper steak, great vego options. Always crazily busy especially during parliament sitting week. You can play spot a Polly here too!

The service at Portia's is like none other in Canberra, excellent without being stuffy! The food is many steps above ordinary chinese food with sizzling black pepper beef an absolute must! Portia not only owns the place but works it as well with her friendliness and can do attitude, she and her staff contributed to our evening. First time here and it's going to be one of my regulars I can assure you!

The service was outstanding. Every effort was made to accommodate us when booking late. The restaurant was very busy, however, there was appropriate noise control so it wasn't that much of a problem.

The food was pretty good, we ordered banquet for 4. The duck pancakes being prepared at the table was really pleasing to see. Some things were a little bit too greasy (unfortunately, the shantung lamb), however, the flavours were pretty good. Will most likely visit again.

This was a great restaurant to bring special friends from interstate. The food was wonderful, especially the duck and squid dishes. Service was very efficient and positive.

Service very good here, but food is just like any other Chinese restaurant but at double the price, mains start from about $20 from what I can remember.
