Parlour is busiest on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights so we suggest that guests make reservations a head of time.
Parlour Wine Room with its gorgeous, cosy interior and eclectic mix of antique furniture, transports it’s guests back to the wine bars of the 1920’s offering something different from the numerous bars and restaurants of Canberra.
With its modern ambience and old-world charm it’s not difficult to see why Parlour Wine Room appeals to people from all walks of life including the younger trendy crowd, mothers, day-time shoppers and local workers. The bar has made a name for itself with the Friday and Saturday night crowd by showcasing a variety of wines, beers, cocktails and spirits. Patrons can also enjoy Spanish-style tapas and desserts till the early hours of the morning. Nonetheless, Parlour is also a venue where people stop by from midday onwards to relax, sit outside on the sun drenched balcony and enjoy a meal from the tapas menu with a glass of wine from the 100 strong wine list.
During the day and on into the early hours of the morning don’t be surprised to hear the mellow strains of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, or some laid-back jazz from such artists as Louis Armstrong playing quietly in the background.

Ummm I went with my brother. He is a fantastic hippie with home made tattoos. That day, he was wearing his green, fluffy doof pants. The staff were very nice. We had no booking but they gave us a great seat, great suggestions without an attitude. Just nice girls who went out of their way to make sure our meal was good. This place does not need to quote try hard end quote it is already there and so are the staff.
Is there something wrong with Canberra having something different from the old favourites? Try taking a hippie out for a beautiful and expensive dinner or lunch in Sydney if you think the staff at parlour are no good. If you love wine and tapas go to Parlour. I will as soon as I visit canberra again.

Came with my girlfriend for a drink before a dinner reservation at Flint next door. Greeted by matire d', exposed to a room where only 3 of the tables were full, explained we were after a quick drink before going next door. We were shown two pathetic ottomans that were in everyones way that someone would have tripped over us. Couldn't believe it as there were about 20 empty tables. Needless to say we rejected the pathetic offer and left. Little try hard I'd say, maybe someone should remind them they are in Canberra after all.

I've had a few Parlour experiences over the past 12 months, sitting among the young hoards that represent Canberra's yuppie scene! It's a great set up: a beautifully furnished space, in an architectural gem by the lovely lake (lovely to look at... swimming unadvisable!).
The food is good quality and the wine list extensive. We had late weeknight drinks here recently and found the experience quite pleasant, even with the slightly schmoozy service and high prices. Still, it's the sort of place our capital could do with a few more of.

We ate dinner here on 13 Feb 2010 and it was fantastic. I had rung up previously to arrange a quiet table as we were with my 80 yr old mother who is hard of hearing. The staff was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. We were seated outside away from the inside (very loud) noise of talking and music.
Despite it being a rainy day the alcove was cosy and we had a view of the inside, so did not feel left out. The staff attended promptly to everything, eventhough we were out of the way. The food was fantastic, and we had lots! The only thing I would say is that while the courses are around $15-20, they cannot be considered mains. Most are bigger than what you would usually expect as tapas, but I would say they were more entree size. However, we left full and happy after a great bottle of Priorat.

An easy 2 minute walk from Rydges Lakeside, my wife and I had a great experience at this place and are looking forward to our next visit to Canberra so we can go again. It was a warm balmy Thursday evening so we sat outside, started with beer & champagne with pistachios & chickpeas, then moved on to a bottle of SB from NZ along with potatoes, quail, lamb & pork belly. Food was all delicious & served by well-mannered waiters with ties. Fantastic!

We arrived early and were happy to wait but the waiteress hurried up the people who had the booking before us, slightly embarrassing and couldn't help but give them an apologetic look. Once seated the staff payed us a lot of attention (perhaps, a little too much, we were constantly asked what we wanted to order next, no time to relax). The chairs are very nice, however, there was not enough room where they squeezed us in.
I was on on poof that was pushed up against the wall and table so had to sit sideways. We ordered a few dishes such as zucchini flowers, scallops, a potato dish, pork belly and all of it was fabulous. Servings are on the small size and often not enough to share. They are like an entree. The dessert was the best part, we all ordered something different and all were divine apart from the banana rice pudding, far too heavy.

On recently visiting Canberra we found this gem of a place whilst staying at the Diamant. As soon as you walk in you are made to feel at home by the staff, all of whom go out of there way to make your experience rewarding. We had a range of Tapas, all of which was superbly crafted with quality ingriedents. There is a great range of Spanish wines to choose from as well as locals and other imports.
It is interesting how one venue can attract such a diverse range of customers. No matter who you are you will fit in here. Since coming back to Syndey we have told all of our friends about the Parlour and I am sure that many of them will be visiting on their trips down to the ACT.
