Despite other (bad) reviews. I didn't find this place too bad, I guess you just have to know what to avoid. Deep fried platter for two doesn't really represent 'greek food' for me. The dips were nice, mains were ok although I didn't really like the vegetables but the dessert was so delicious and definitely made up for it.

Being greek myself I thought I might try out the only greek place I haven't been yet, what a disappointment!
I ordered the meat platter (being $60 for 2) and the seafood platter (being $70 for 2) and I was so shocked! The seafood platter was all deepfried, with soggy chips! and a few calamari rings! the meat platter (which was served on the same dish?) was 5 tiny lamb cutlets! the greek salad wasn't too bad, but way too much dressing and salt! this is not how you cook/serve Greek food! I was so disappointed!
Plus the waitresses need to stop hanging around and staring at the table for when you finish with a dish so they can take it away asap! Very bad!

We had booked a table for 28 people, a few days prior to this we collected menus from the owner. These menus were distributed and everyone selected what they wanted. We faxed the orders through without any problems (names, dish and price).
On the day of the farewell everyone arrived on time and the food started to come out. On this day the food was actually very good, everything was fresh and tasty. Problem was when we go the bill, they seemed to have overcharged us, by a substantial amount. When they were questioned about it the supervisor had to be called. She appeared to be a simpleton and advised that all the lamb dishes had gone up, whilst the chicken options remained the same. I advised them that was not what was stated on the menu the owner had given us and showed them the menu we had. The story then changed and we were advised that that we had an old menu and everything had gone up a few weeks ago. We asked to speak to the owner as he had given us the menus, he in turn denied giving us the menu. People were getting impatient at this stage and began noticing that the menus plastered on the doors and walls were exactly the same ones as we had been given.
In the end the owner agreed to refund the difference. The menus which were laminated had different prices all together. Obviously the owner/supervisor have no understanding of customer service and behaved very dishonestly. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, despite the food being really good.

Went here as part of a work function. As I was first to arrive, I took my seat at the designated table. The (who I presumed to be) owner came over and asked me what we would all be eating, whether we would be having a banquet etc.
Having looked at their menu online prior to arriving to get an idea on prices etc, I remarked how surprised I was they even offered a banquet. There was no mention on the menu at all! Nor was it mentioned in the physical menu, he provided a copy of the banquet on separate laminated pages. There were about 3 to choose from, and we decided on the $22 per head option.
The service was quick, a little too quick, they seemed to want us to leave! There was absolutely no air flow either. They had air vents, but no visible air conditioning system. The front doors were opened, but my male colleagues were developing lovely sweat patches on their business shirts, and the women's faces had started to slide down.
We attempted to open the other door but it was broken. The food was at least good, however, the waitress couldn't tell us if a certain dish was beef, lamb or veal, this was a problem for the some of the religious people in our group.
The place was so muggy and humid we left early, but they didn't seem to saddened by it!

I read the mixed reviews here and thought I'd give Ostratos the benefit of the doubt. Bad choice. I now know why the reviews are so mixed here, the dishes wildly vary. My husband chose fish of the day, which was fresh although the side of chips were awful. On the other hand, I went with the mixed seafood plate. When it came out, it was all deep-fried bits of calamari, prawn cutlets and dry mystery fish on a bed of awful chips with a side of soggy salad. The dish was so far removed from anything greek that even the salad didn't have feta in it. It must have felt ashamed and left the plate before serving.
I complained that the menu did not mention it was all deep-fried and I ate hardly any of it. The waitress offered me a free coffee, which was nice but grossly inadequate. I was rather annoyed at having to part with $21 for a fish basket I could have bought for half the price at a fish and chip shop.

Went on a busy Friday night. Shared some Greek Meze as an entree, and the men had whole snapper and the women shared a meat platter. The food was all really good, and the service was just about spot on.

I had great expectation about this restaurant. Unfortunately, the reality was very disappointing.
Users on other sites haves said that the calamari is good, so we ordered the calamari for $26.50 (not the stuffed ones) and a seafood platter for $21. The calamari came with about 10 calamari rings and a salad that was soaked in oil. The seafood platter came with about 5 calamari rings, some deep-fried fish and clams, chips, and salad soaked in oil.
First of all, why is the seafood platter better than the calamari dish, while being $5 cheaper?! The salad was very oily and completely unhealthy, so we barely ate it. There was no sauce to go with the seafood. The meal tasted like any other Fish & Chips meal you get at any corner store in Australia. The only difference is here you pay $21-$27, whereas normally you would expect to pay around $13 for a meal like that.
The service was also average. The waitress couldn't explain the difference between two of the veal dishes. When we were leaving I asked the waitress to bring out the bill. We waited for 20 minutes and she didn't bring it out. Tired of waiting I went to the counter and paid, no one said sorry.
The atmosphere was average. I was expecting some nice Greek music, but that didn't happen. We were seated 30 cm away from a very loud function of 20 people, despite the fact that I made an early booking and there were tables available. Finally, there was a waiter who kept walking up and down every 5 minutes and staring at our table. This was very discomforting.
In conclusion, I don't recommend anyone to go to Ostratos, unless you are after very expensive Fish & Chips. If you are feeling brave, you could go and try your luck with non-seafood dishes.

A very sad reflection of what can be a great cuisine. The owners are typical of some people who set up ethnic restaurants and think that all you need to do is be part of that ethnic community to qualify. They might understand Greek, but they don't understand food.
