Recent visit to Canberra saw us lucky to get into La Scala last minute. I was expecting better given the place was packed. We shared some bread to start that was pretty ordinary - too crusty for our taste. My chilli veal was quite nice but my partners steak was pretty much cold and not the best cut - dissapointing.

As an out of towner - would not recommend.

Love La Scala. They always have a lovely menu, great service and the restaurant is so cosy! It feels like you're tucked away somewhere in Italy.
Also have to love that it's always in the entertainment book, which makes it real value for money.

What a great restaurant, with daily specials and very tasty food, definitely one of the canberra best restaurants. Good selection of meats, seafood and really nice desserts.

10 out of 10. La Scala gets a ten from me becouse it has never dissapointed. I have been dining here once a weeek on and off for the last five years. I'm still not sick of the place. The menu changes enough and granted I am now known to the staff. and sometime become their Guinea pig with trials of dishes for their specials. (which I love). To me (and I have eaten in all of them) there is no better Italian restaurant in Canberra.

Went here with a friend on a rainy, relatively quiet night. The pasta served was nice, but devastatingly ordinary. I don't like the idea of being served packet ravioli anywhere, but for that price, the sauce really needed to be outstanding and it just wasn't.

Definitely would not recommend the ravioli. The marinara spaghetti was okay, but again, not anything I couldn't prepare at home, the pasta was slightly overcooked and the sauce lacked any real flavour. The entire menu seemed to lack inspiration and probably needs an update pretty soon. The service was efficient but unprofessional.

Loved the food (the chicken stuffed with brie was sensational), and Natassja ensured that we had a fantastic evening. Will definitely come back next time I'min Canberra.

A nice looking restaurant with disappointing food. A great wine list which so contradicts the food. The entree was ok but the mains were like something cooked at home and poorly at that. Large portions, perhaps, tried to compensate. The pasta was so hot it had to have been microwaved. Unimpressive food but a nice looking place and I happily lock myself in their cellar for a month.

La Scala is consistenly terrible. The service is slower than my grandmother crossing the street and most of the time the food is worse than a bad bistro. Was given a $200 gift voucher at the last visit to make up for a terrible experience, went back and it was no better.

I'm amazed that this restaurant has lasted as long as it has, if I was running it, I'd start with sacking my kitchen staff and the waiters. Re-do the menu and start from scratch. I would keep the chicken stuffed with brie, however, providing they learnt how to cook it properly more than once.

The only thing going for La Scala is the location and setup. Waste your money on a cheap case of beer and a packet of cigarettes, it'll taste better.

It is a bit hot but the food is really good and the service was nice. Very good value we thought. Third time we've been and all three visits were good, but yes, the air conditioners need to be updated!
