The food was great but the service was abysmal. We had to ask to order, no one bothered to go through the specials, and after half an hour of waiting for a dessert menu we ended up paying at the till and leaving. So sad because the food was great. Pretty expensive to be treated so poorly.

We went to La Cantina on a Saturday night and the place was very lively. It was a little loud for intimate conversation however it maintained a fabulous atmosphere with the exposed brick-work and cellar-like feel.

The waitstaff were attentive and very polite but our waiter felt he had to explain every ingredient and where it was from in Italy, and that pancetta was Italian bacon. Something we already knew. A little over the top for the average restaurant goer. To his credit, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food.

The food was excellent with rich flavours and fresh ingredients. The meatballs as an entree were delicious! My partner had the risotto as a main but had to ask for a little salt.

Great value, good portion sizes for the price and quality of the ingredients. It's great to have a nice restaurant that is still BYO (wine only) as it keeps a little money in the pocket and lets you splurge on the good food. We'll be back.
