Lifestyle - Best Steak (ACT)
Reminiscent of a steakhouse with comfy booth seating & a bar area, it is located below Dendy Cinemas in the Canberra Centre, opposite Gus' & Chairman & Yip. Featuring the Kingsleys branded menu with an emphasis on top quality steaks & seafood, it is the perfect place to pop in for a bite to eat before a movie, for a corporate lunch or special occasion.

So far as I can tell, and my partner says the same thing, the meat at this place is chemically aged. It certainly tastes that way. I can only guess at the maturation method, but chemical aging seems the most obvious. The place isn't really different from Hog's Breath except the crowd is quieter.
The service was on the line of 'don't bother me, do it yourself.' I know that these guys spent a lot of money on the decor. It would be better spent on the food and getting a decent staff.

This rating may come up as a little lower than I would probably have given the experience overall - so I shall explain.
I didn't much appreciate the ambience but I could see where they're trying to go with the whole steakhouse thing. The service was nothing spectacular but the person who put through our payment was very friendly (possibly the manager it seemed?) and took on board our comments regarding the sauce we'd taken with our steaks and chatted with us a little about the night which was great.
The food I thought was quite good, our steaks were sized well and cooked to perfection. Our side sauce (something garlicky I think) was not very nice but the manager seemed to take on board our comments and had said they're actually putting in place a new one and that he'd recently tasted that sauce and did not like it either. The side salad with beetroot in it was amazing and it was good to have a few different sides that you don't see at every old steak house.
In saying that, however, I think the steak were far overpriced (as is the case with many steakhouses) and couldn't rate it well on value. If you're willing to pay the cash though, this is a steakhouse we'd go back to.

The service was poor, the value wasn't good and for bragging to have the best steak it was dangerously under cooked. The medium rare looked like ble steak, if that.

We had a great steak but once our table was cleared the service ended, we waited for 30 minutes to place our dessert/coffee orders, but gave up. Person taking the bill didn't seem to care when we voice our opinion. Will think twice about returning.

Went with friends and their children. They had "run out" of 2 main menu items being the only chicken dish and fish dish so one of our party didn't have much choice in her mains. Mains took too long to come out and while food was good, the steak portions were small. All up it was a little disappointing and on the way out we heard another table also complaining.

I would like to thank you for the wonderful lunch we had on Sunday. From entrée to dessert, everything was great. Specially the lobster, it was cooked perfectly and tasted great with the rich sauce. My cousin and his wife were really impressed with the whole experience. Byron you did a fantastic job and made us all feel welcomed and comfortable. The time for which I was there everything seemed to run smoothly. Even heard the table next to us appreciating the food and service. Keep up the good work guys!

A top experience! Very quality food and professional service. I can honestly say, the best caramel cheesecake, ice cream and peanut brittle I have ever eaten! I will definitely be revisiting!

I Love this place! The first time I went to Kingsley's I tried the 60 day grain fed steak, (recommended to me by a friend) it was to die for and well worth the price I paid for it. Ever since, I have frequented this restaurant for the fantastic food, the pleasant service and the great atmosphere.

I feel compelled to re-review Kingsley's because our experience was so markedly different from last time.
Firstly, the food was great. Steaks were cooked to perfection, with a lovely charred crust. All steaks come with thick-cut fries or mash, and a choice of sauce. Mixed beans with almonds were lovely, and with just a little bit of bite. Compared to our last visit, the menu seems to have been trimmed, with a focus on simpler food and quality ingredients.
The service was also great. Our waitress was very attentive, and even rushed out after we ordered to let us know the bread was just baking and would be another 6 minutes or so. The prices were also reasonable for such excellent quality meat.
The only downside was the cool breeze every time the front door was opened, but you can't door much about poor restaurant design. A enjoyable meal, and I hope this high standard is maintained.

Table was shaky and unstable. Indoor temp was very chilly, Rocket salad was soaked/dripping in dressing with hardly noticeable feta ( after we came home, my son asked was there meant to be feta in it?) , Tomato salad with basil has maybe max. 2 roma tomatoes (sliced into 6) and 2 cherry tom. Slice 1/2, and max, 3 leaves of torn up basil and 5 boccocini halves. Both salad really heavy on sugar. Crackling on pork belly was hard and chewy. Steaks were good.
