The Hungry Buddha is a brand new Nepalese restaurant located in the suburb of Curtin, south Canberra, just a short drive from the city. Open seven days for dinner, The Hungry Buddha is a delicious breath of fresh air when dining out in Canberra.
The Hungry Buddha offers a wide range of authentic Nepalese cuisine as well as dishes from India, Malaysia and southern Asia. All of our dishes are prepared in the traditional Nepali style giving them the true flavours of Nepal.
With our head chef having over twenty-five years of experience cooking in restaurants in Canberra, The Hungry Buddha will surely please a wide range of tastes.

I found this place purely by chance and I've never been happier to find a restaurant by accident! I've found the food to be always fresh and consistent every time (I've eaten here and had take out at least a dozen times). The prices are similar to other places in Canberra but the taste is much better than most.
I am going to the Hungry Buddha regularly now and I hope that it will still be as good as ever when it becomes even more popluar. The only reason I haven't given it 10/10 is that I feel nothing is perfect but as far as food goes, they are pretty close.

I'm going back for sure! :) I recommend their dessert, too. You can feel their passion in both their service and their food. Place to go if you want to chat with your friends and just sit back and relax. Loved it!

We went on Fathers Day so it was busy and we were told that several staff had not turned up. The staff that served us were friendly and very helpful (one child has a nut allergy) and attentive.
The food was tasty and excellent value, the wine list was small but the red we ordered was quite good and reasonably priced. So the only let down was the speed of service but I am prepared to give them another try given that everything else was good. In summary a good suburban meal out with a bit of difference.

Although service of the actual food was a bit slow, they were very busy for a Wednesday night so that could explain it. The service was extremely friendly and polite and the food was delicious. My father took me and he has many years of experience of eating the real deal in Nepal. He gave it his solid stamp of approval so that must mean something! He was a bit miffed at the lack of Newar (Kathmandu urban) food and the inclusion of some non-Nepali dishes, but that didn't bother me in the slightest.
The room was fairly noisy with low ceilings and a hard ceiling and floor but it had a nice atmosphere otherwise and was nice and warm on a chilly night, being tucked away downstairs. I'll be going back!
