Trading on past glories I think. Stale rice paper rolls, the rice paper all glutinous and either badly soaked or old. A vegetable dish which was mostly the heart of a white cabbage, with huge chunks of vegetables so impossible to get a combination of vegetables at once. I have a young family and I dont go out much and this was terribly disappointing. I pointed out that my disk of stir fried vegetables was mostly the inedible part of a cabbage and the maitre d just shrugged. Nothing would induce me to go again.

A little gem to discover on a sunday night! Started off with the compulsory rice paper rolls and viet spring rolls..gorgeous. Followed up by a main of viet satay beef and chilli prawns. Yum! From the writing on the walls here it's popular with many! So glad we got out of the city and discovered another part of canberra with a great restaurant strip... will be back again!

We had a long weekend in Canberra in July. A Google search located this restaurant just down the road from where we were staying. What a gem!
Once you start eating you just know that this is the place to eat good Vietnamese food. Do yourself a favour - when in Canberra pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed. While you are there have a look at the walls - they are covered with recommendations from previous patrons! Also - the location features 4 other restaurants on Barker Street that are also top class!

Once again great food ask the owner/waiter to serve you enough meals for your table but ask for the s/p squid and flamming beef in ginger, great food and service that is great and will be back again.

We decided to go midweek for my wife's birthday, was not disappointed. Had the rice paper rolls they are more like salad rolls in size, the salt and pepper squid and the crispy chicken. Overall was great and very friendly staff. Will try at night next time

After hearing many great reviews, my husband and I decided to try this restaurant. We were incredibly disappointed. I didn't mind the outdated decor or the fact that it was very noisy, but the service was awful - we weren't given glasses for the bottle of wine be brought with us, we had to ask twice for water and our entree came out after our first main! On top of that, the food was average.

Great place, good value, excellent service. Little ambience but can you really expect it in a place like this? We will be back.

We have dined at this restaurant many times in our Tuesday evening dining club and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, even better if you ask the proprietor to order for you, just tell him how many dishes you want it rolls from there.

The ambience is excellent as it is always busy with a great local vibe. The service is good albeit it can be a little slow to begin with if it is busy. Having said this once you are into your meal you lack for nothing. The drinks are predominately BYO, however, this service is excellent as they will refridgerate anything for you (I believe we had over a carton of beer in their fridge).

The value for money is excellent, we ate for a group of 13 people which involved double portions of 8 courses plus entrees and rice and it was $32 a head. The highlights are the salt and pepper squid and/or fish, the seafood hot pot, the pepper lamb and the rice paper rolls (which are enormous). All around one of the best dining experiences in Canberra.

This is a very busy restaurant, and for the life of me I don't know why. The decor sux, and that doesn't need to be a problem if it has great food, but the food sux as well. The owners - and what I assume are family members that work the floor - are all lovely people, but really, can they let up on the braised onions? This is just not good food. I usually love little family places that are unpretentious (think Tak Kee in Dickson) but this just doesn't rate.

There is a quirky tradition here of diners writing comments on A4 sheets and sticking them on the wall, usually full of praise for the establishment, and it seems to have caught on with the pollies when they are in town. Maybe that's the appeal. You can see gushing comments from the likes of Beazley or Turnbull or Gillard or just about anyone on the front benches, but I think this only proves that all politicians are liars! If you want good Vietnamese in the inner south, go to Giles street in Kingston.

Great local Vietnamese restaurant with heaps of personality. The head waiter is fantastic and happy to take charge of ordering for you if you ask. All we had to do was to tell him how many dishes we wanted and he worked out the rest.

The food was simple, fresh and tasty - we had sizzling chicken with cashews, salt and pepper fish (lightly battered) and garlic rice. There were also nice touches like a complimentary drink and scoop of ice cream at the end of the meal. Nothing beats great service! Would highly recommend.
