Our family was staying at University House so decided to eat at Boffins - and it was a lovely surprise. Excellent food and reasonably priced. One of us had the scallop and salmon timbale and found that it was juicy, whole scallops wrapped in smoked salmon. Three had perfectly cooked filet mignons, while a char grilled pork fillet with Asian spices was scrumptious. The entree of lamb empanadas was a bit of a disappointment in that it was one huge empanada - not small ones as expected. But the lamb flavour with smoky eggplant was lovely. The wait staff seemed mainly to be students, and we did have to ask for our wine order after it seemed an age before it was delivered. Despite a big party nearby, we were all able to talk without shouting. We would definitely return.

We've been here a few times now. I really enjoy the "old school" approach to things and the simple but tasty food.

We went there on a Saturday night. I had the Fillet Mignon which was exactly cooked to my liking and well presented. My partner had the Salmon which was not on the menu but since I could not eat the fish dish on the menu as it was cooked in shellfish broth the waitress offered me this dish. It was just delicious. I can recommend the home-made ice cream for dessert. The waiters were extremely helpful and nothing was too hard. They were familiar with the entire menu. Thanks for a great dining experience. We'll be back!

Haven't been for about a year but one of my favourites for a special meal. Pricey but food has always been excellent and service very good. Yes, patrons are often seniors like us, but they are the ones with the disposable income to eat at such places. We couldn't afford to go there often.

This is the restaurant at the University House on ANU campus. Good food, a bit expensive. Nice old-fashioned ambience. Most customers seem to be guests of Uni House and more senior than in most other Canberra restaurants.
