You pay for what you get and more and more want something for nothing, but I have had great food at apk several times pizzas are individual and you will need one each but everything is fresh and made by the restaurant its a great family place and kid friendly too.
Main meals in the city for $20 and drinks the same as ever where else, Tap water is self serve but its not a 5 star place and waitress is friendly but not going to put a napkin on your lap. Genuine great and reliable. Try a smoked chicken or marinated lamb pizza.

Went there on a living social deal, and were generally excited -- especially since upon asking a couple for directions, the guys said that it was beautiful food.
We showed up having left a reservation via a message as instructed by the answering machine directions. No record of our reservation, which was irritating. Things went downhill from there with truly poor service, even for Canberra, and really bad pizzas. The bread appetizer was the only decent thing. The Tandoori Pizza had tasteless chicken (that was a bit gristly for me) and as a chutney it basically had some nondescript jam.
The server kept seating people near us even though the place was practically empty, and then he'd turn away from us to go back to the kitchen making it impossible to get his attention or a refill of water. Wine was ordinary. Then at the end I got some hassle over using the living social deal! Save yourself the trouble!

We tried the Smoked/BBQ Chicken, Vego, and Americano pizzas. The first two were interesting, very well done! The vego was really cheesy, which mixed well with the chives, and the pumpkin and zucchini were perfectly tender. The sauce to the BBQ one tasted somewhat of balsamic vinegar, I found it unique (and not so sweet and thick like most places). They are individual pizzas priced at $16 for take away, $19 for eat-in. Service was friendly but our waitress was completely inattentive (dropped off food, dropped off check, that's it).

Awful pizzas. It's as if the base is a frozen pre-prepared one from the supermarket. They are definitely Not freshly made bases. They tasted like a frozen Papa Guiseppe pizza. I would rate Domino's pizza better than the pizzas at Australian Pizza Kitchen.
The service was fine, and the ambience of the place is fine. Give this one a big miss if you're after a half decent pizza!

I eat at APK in the city on a regular basis, it is a great family friendly place. The last time I dined here, was on a saturday it was extremely busy yet we did not wait more than 15 minutes for our meals, which were superb and cooked to perfection. The prices are within our budget and the great pizzas and pastas on offer are delicious.
The customer service is excellent, they are always checking if were ok and happy with our meals. I definitely recommend APK if you're going out in the city or taking part in an event at the canberra theatre. I have also attended APK on nights when the theatre is on and the service is still exceptional. We have never had to wait long for our meals and always have time to finish have a few drinks and make our way over to the theatre.

My partner and I needed a quick bite to eat before we hit the theatre. We were seated quickly and ordered, time was not on our side we explained this to our waitress and she said whilst it was busy she would do her best to make sure we would be out in time for our show.
I ordered pizza my partner ordered a pasta. We received our meals in great time and I swear my lamb pizza was just divine with just the right toppings and garnish-yummy yogurt and coriander! The pasta was the carbonara and was simply (my partners words) awesome! I have to say well worth every cent and we left completely satisfied and could not thank our friendly waitress enough.
We have since been back and received the same friendly great service and the best lamb pizza in Canberra!

Come every so often for lunch and order the same thing. Happy with the meal (Italian pizza and garlic bread). Its not the best pizza but its pretty good for Civic. Service is always solid but thats not hard cause its usually empty at lunch.

Worst pizza ever. My Girlfriend and I went to this restaurant on a Sunday night. The service was ok, we were seated and given menus promptly. Our pizza's came out in reasonable time, it is now that the middle of the road rating falls sharply. The pizza was terrible, the base wasn't cooked, the toppings were barely warmed through and on top of that they used coon tasty cheese.
Never have a had a worse pizza and I have had Domino's. Actually Dominos or Pizza hut pizza is miles ahead of this place and a third of the cost. Oh and I forgot to mention the Sunday surcharge (written in small print on the menu), this place is a rip off. Cost $50 for 2 pizzas. Never go to Australian Pizza Kitchen.
