Au Lac is a great restaurant with fast, cheap and tasty food. I think for the quality of the food it is priced well (even though it is a little more expensive than other vegetarian venues in Canberra). No complaints.

Au Lac is a wonderful restaurant - great value, awesome food and speedy service. The menu features a wide range of vegan Vietnamese foods, including soups, noodles, curries and fried dishes. Some feature mock meat, but there are quite a few vegetable or tofu dishes to choose from if that's not your cup of tea. The laksa, fish with ginger and (entree-size) wonton soup are all excellent - although the full-size wonton noodle soup is a bit bland. The banquets aren't bad for groups either.

Great food but Au Lac has put its prices up 3 times in a year so the prices are now expensive for vegetarian food.

They used to offer 10% discount on takeaways over $30 then it went up to over $40 and now no discount. I was not impressed when I went in to pick up my order tonight to find out all prices had gone up again and no discount and they didn't offer to give me a discount but they gave me a bag a chips!

They just did a new refit of the shop so I guess they need to charge more.

So after 10 years of eating here at least once a month I will be taking all my business 30m up the road to somewhere else. Such a shame cause the food is good and I will probably spend the next week telling all my friends to go to there.

The meal we got was simply disgusting. I regret not taking a photo of it and to begin to describe it would turn my stomach. The staff spoke poor english and were rude. We would never return and would discourage others from doing so.

A good selection of delicious vegetarian food, generous portions and mostly reasonable prices. However, A corkage charge of $3 per person for a canteen-like place seems a bit steep as is the $2.5 per person for steamed rice (like corkage, rice is charged per table according to the number of occupied seats).

Great vegetarian food, we've been here many times and never been disappointed.
I recommend the crispy soy fish and the banquets are also very tasty. The soy chicken/duck noodle soups are great for a cold Canberra winter day.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I'm a vegan but also gluten intolerance and could only eat the tofu and vegetables, none of the mock meat which is why we went. My partner had the omelette which he said was pretty tasteless. I had the vegetable curry which was ok. The first waiter I got told me I could eat something which I found out from another waiter actually contained gluten so I couldn't. Lucky I hadn't eaten and had an allergic reaction!

Au Lac is a modern, friendly and easy to find veggie restaurant. I have been a few times and each time I've had delicious and reasonably priced food. The last time I went, with my daughter, we had the rice paper rolls (yum) and then the laksa was so huge we shared that as our main meal. We'll certainly be back on our next trip to Canberra.

A great introduction to Vietnamese vegetarian 'meat' foods. About as good as anything you'll get short of going to Vietnam to get decent vegetarian food. Feel is typical of a suburban Vietnamese restaurant, not upmarket, not snobbish, just no fuss and straight to the point. Excellent value food and very tasty too!

Tasty food on the whole. If you are after simple an no nonsense vegetarian food, this is the place to be. But it is not suitable for a big group.
