The only thing that make me come back to ZenBar because of their fried rice. In fact, I have never order other than fried rice at Zen Bar. I will not critizise their food, I think they look good, and I don't care about the price when it is a good quality.
But, their service is disappointing. Waiter/Waitress are Ok but not that friendly and seems always in hurry when taking order (maybe because the restaurant always full). The worst service is the reception girl. She never smile and not helpful at all. Too bad I have to deal with her all the time because I usually have a take out than eat in. One day, I came at 2:15 pm, and she refuse my order because the kitchen is closed at 2:30, and according to her, now is 2:35. I didn't argue with her that she can't read the time.

Thank you Zen Bar, you restored my faith in you! been lacking in service and food for the last four or five visits (three months) but they have their MOJO back. I highly recommend you start going again, food was perfect, drinks were great and the staff gave some love when at the tables they really made us all feel welcomed.

What an overrated place. We have now had 2 business lunches and on both occasions its been less then impressive!. Food is over priced, $25 for a Caesar salad with chicken that really was just lettuces leaves with a small amount of chicken and bacon, both people who ordered this left hungry. My duck was over cooked in a thick pretty bland sauce. The services was slow as was the delivery of the food. Not entirely sure why people go to this place? Others in my office has commented breakfast is not much better! The general consensus in our office is ‘don’t bother’.

Took clients out for Friday night drinks. Had a lovely and attentive waitress catering to our needs. That's as good as it got. No major problems but the food was bland. Adding artificial sweet chilli sauce in mayonnaise does not make it exotic. The chocolate brownie was nice and that's about it.

At Lunch on Friday for 4, waited 15 minutes to get served, waited 55 minutes to get lunch (only two meals came to the table, the steak and pasta were cold, how do you do that? the other two meals came 15 minutes later, very poor kitchen service and food quality, pick up your game Zenbar. Not looking after your locals, been going for two years. Give it a swerve!

Attended a conference dinner here with about 12 people. Meals were delivered in a timely manner, however, nothing fantastic. Lamb curry was rather bland with a dry roti.
The waitress was friendly and helpful but the barmaid needs to lose the attitude and try to crack a smile. The drinks list is extensive and priced at typical restaurant prices (~$7 premium beer). The decor is bright and clean but not exceptional. Not unpleasant, but I would not return in a hurry.

Food was good and portions reasonable but I tasted a few different mains and they were all a bit salty. We had a party of 12 and got a very nice table. We could see the cooks busy at work, but the waiter warned that it would be a long wait, and sure enough, food didn't arrive until an hour later. There was a big lag between the time the first person and last person was served. I ordered a vegetarian meal and was served last. The cost of the mains were pricey too.

If you like pretentious, you have come to the right place. I always come here, and even though you do tired of old tragic suits trying to pick up younger versions as they are stressed out business men with horrible wives, this place is ok. (you need a partner single girls, otherwise, be prepared for constant ogling).
Have eaten here many times, and the food is pretty good. The drink list is huge, and they do great cocktails, great range of beers and in the mornings they have great coffee that we all seem to wait in that long line for just to get the red zen paper cup. Service is hit and miss, sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, yet the place is just too convenient!

I can only agree with the comments from mickD in his review of the Zen Bar. Though, I would rate the food at 8.5/10, I was pretty happy with the risotto I ordered. We went to the Zen Bar for a long-ish lunch on a Friday, the service was good, our pre-ordered meals were mistake free, very well presented and tasted great! Being able to split the bill was also appreciated. It's always been a hang out for the professionals about town so if you don't like suits this venue is not for you.

A large-ish bar/cafe/restaurant adjacent to Post Office Square, Zen-Bar is a well known eatery in the CBD. A nice range of mains including a couple of nice salads which are always well presented. Staff are courteous and well spoken, the prices climb with the top-end dishes but are generally pretty good. Worth a visit next lunch meeting.
