A truly terrible experience. We had a table of eight and were basically placed out the back and ignored. We twice had to get up ourselves to get someone to take our order. I would love to rate the food but after two hours with nothing to eat we decided to walk out. Luckily we were able to find another restaurant to look after us. Worst "dining" experience I've ever had.

Its 9 months since I was here. I should have posted earlier. Its a beautiful little place, with excellent ambience, great for a romantic dinner for 2 or a party. The service was prompt and friendly, yet not intrusive. The entrees and mains were so-so, I thought. The modern Spanish entree incorporating a single sushi roll with a thick european stew didn't really work for me.
I had the Paella for mains. The sauce was fine, but I prefer the meats and seafood not to be so finely chopped (elsewhere it hasn't been). But, the sorbet desserts were to die for! The best I've ever had! Would I return? Yes. Which is what I'm thinking to do now and why I'm here 9 months later.

I am very surprised at the first reviewer’s comments I am a regular at Vida and love it. I have always found the staff to be knowledgeable about the food and wine menus as well. The paella is great and made as it should be, not like a risotto, but like paella full of flavour and bite sized pieces of seafood which infuse the rice, which is what the dish is all about.
I am not surprised they charge cake, age it is a restaurant after all, aren’t the 80’s over yet? Don’t we know how to behave in a restaurant BYO wine, BYO cake next we’ll want to bring the meat and have it chucked on the BBQ! We go and normally spend around $60 per person, that’s sharing tapas, a main each and sharing a plentiful dessert plus a $40 bottle of wine. We share entrée and dessert cause we can’t possibly eat more. With the service the ambience and the clothed tables I call that value!

To celebrate my birthday, I chose to eat at Vida with my partner and friends.
I booked a good 2 weeks before the intended date.
On the night, although the service was friendly, I was disappointed when I queried about a dish on the menu and was told "I dont know". The waitress also did not attempt to seek the information I was asking about.
3 paellas were ordered which were dry, overcooked, poorly presented, and the seafood was cut up into child bite size pieces- this was the most disappointing, especially for the price charged.
To bring my birthday cake, I was told each person would be charged $4 which would have been an overall charge of approx. $45 dollars.
Some dishes were okay, but overall the service and food was disappointing and not worth the prices charged. I don't recommend this restaurant which is also the opinion of my fellow diners.

We went on a rainy monday night and were the only customers but that was not a problem for us. We were served some complimentary breads with dipping oil and salt while we read the menu which were a nice gesture and tasty. I chose a potato and zucchini stack to start which was tasty and a larger serving than I had expected and for mains I chose the lamb, it was literally "melt in your mouth", the meat was tender and fell of the bone and the sauce was exquisite!
My boyfriend chose the tuna and cod carpaccio to start, he said the tuna was delicious and for mains he had the eye fillet on a bed of mash which he also rated. We had wines with our dinner which were also yum and finished up with a cheese platter which was meant for 2 but easily was enough for 4! Very very tasty brie! The only thing is that its a fairly expensive eat out but for a special occasion it is worth it!
