Loved the meal, and the quirky local atmosphere that many Westend cafes offer, and a lot of that is from the local Brissie diners, laid back and there to have fun and enjoy.
A refreshing change from the snobbery and one upmanship of many of the the Gold coast dining crowd. It was Monday evening, today actually 26 Sept 2011, and the lady nurse and Moi checked in at 6.30 pm after pre booking, and by 7.00ish the place was totally full.
A big friendly welcome by the co-owner who quickly opened and presented our BYO wine in Ice buckets, and a welcome by the charming smiling waitress who unasked brought us a carafe of water and glasses.
The shared mixed entree appeared quickly, which for a busy establishment, was a great feat. The mains followed, and both dishes were unique, and subtle flavoured, with an option to choose mild, hot or hotter.
The Sherpa bread, was unusual and uniquely different, and we finished with Creme Brulee, and tibetan spices Chai [Tea]. What a great place, we totally reccommend it for something different.
Yes I did ask Mine host why creme Brulee, and he responded that Nepal has no deserts on any note, and that C Brulee everyone likes, Sensible!

Every time I've been to this restaurant I have had a great experience. The food is amazing and everyone I seem to take is skeptical at first but loves their meals too. It's also great value for money.

We had the Banquet for two persons, great value for very interesting food. We ordered it spicy, and so it was: just right for a western palate. The Tibetans (or Indians) would have it even more spicy. Nice appetizers, but the main dishes were really magnificent. Very good were the prawns: creamy and with herbal flavor such as lemon grass and kafir leaves. Try it yourselves!

After just travelling through northern India and frequenting some very good Tibetan restaurants I was a little sceptical it would be as nice here in Brisbane. Fortunately I was wrong and I absolutely loved the food and the people at this restaurant.
I'd highly reccommend the momo's and any of the platter dishes. If you're looking for good food at a very reasonable price than i'd definitely reccommend The Tibetan Kitchen.

We absolutely love this restaurant. We have been there twice now and both times the food has been beautiful. Service is friendly. We recommend the traditional food and the Curried, Limed Prawns YUMMY!!

This is one of our favourite restaurants in the world (and we've travelled a lot). My husband and I have been here many times - sometimes with friends and twice with a large group. The service is always extremely friendly and in no way overbearing, although they do get a little less efficient with larger groups. The price is extremely reasonable, especially given the quality of the food.
The flavour and style of Tibetan cooking is very unique and certainly NOT Chinese. Rather, it is a beautifully subtle blend of different influences such as Thai, Indian and other parts of Asia. Don't be afraid to try anything on the menu. We've also been to the Tibetan Kitchen in The Valley a number of times. It's owned by the co-owner's aunty and apart from a couple of items, the menus are the same.
Here, at West End, the ambience is not quite as nice but the food is somehow slightly better - an almost impossible feat.
