This restaurant is supposed to be one of the best in Brisbane. Please if you are a tourist and have been to Thyme2, do not think that every other restaurant in Brisbane is this standard or below - most are far higher, particularly in service and value. We arrived, were asked if we would like tea and coffee, we asked if they had green tea and were told yes, so we asked for a cup of green tea. 10 minutes later, a different staff member comes to us and tells us if we would like our tea, we get it for ourselves (they have tea bags and hot water on a side cupboard). Not what is expected for $50 per breakfast meal - far better service is available for less.

Compounded by the fact that even making it yourself from a tea bag, there were no green tea tea bags and when a staff member was queried they said they had "run out" of green tea - again, far better at almost every other restaurant and cafe in Brisbane. We had toast (the bread was out of a supermarket bread loaf packet) at the end of our meal, and looked forward to using the individual serve jam jars on our table - only to find that 3 of the 6 jars on our table had already been used by a prior customer. The meal rounds off with payment of the $50 per breakfast meal, at which time we are told there is a surcharge for using any credit card. I travel a fair amount, and I felt embarrassed that this restaurant is representing the upper end of Brisbane to our visitors in such a poor manner.

Read between the lines, and see that even if tea is not provided then at the very least the first staff member who asked us if we would like some is not adequately trained, and further staff members do not provide good service (presumably due to few staff, which lead to the food-court feel with large numbers of people and 10+ minute standing-in-line queues e.g. for cooked eggs). If the service and ambience are not present, then what are you paying $50 (plus credit card surcharge fee) for? Certainly not for the tea from a tea bag and the bread from a supermarket.

Terrible. My partner and I chose the "interactive dining experience” and there was nothing interactive about it. My partner was assured over the phone when he made the booking that there would be “plenty” of vegetarian options for me, but I was very disappointed.

Basically, I paid $90 for dhal and rice (the restaurant’s theme for the buffet was “Indian Spice” and the only other options were steamed and roasted vegetables). I could get better Indian food from my local takeaway for a small fraction of the price. The service was terrible and after waiting for 45 minutes and being in the middle our meal when conceded to the fact that no wait staff were going to proactively ask us for our drink order so we were able to wave someone down after another 5 minutes. The best part of my meal was the wine.

Overpriced. The so called "interactive dining experience" is their way of obfuscating a $70 buffet to justify the price, there is absolutely nothing interactive about it.

The dinner buffet was ok but nothing amazing, all you can eat oysters and mussels almost made the $70 worth it. As mentioned above, nothing was "interactive" - everything was served from bain-maries. I expected at least one freshly made option, like the freshly made omelettes that are served at breakfast. Desserts were nice, particularly the pineapple and banana crumble.

The breakfast buffet, at $39, I would never pay for but it came free with my hotel room. Again, it was ok, but nothing overly special. I had no complaints about the food, except the sushi was old and dry. The freshly made omelettes were nice, as were some of the cakes and muffins. Coffees were good, but some freshly squeezed fruit juices would have been nice.

Apparently the a-la-carte dinner options are a lot more satisfying but I wanted test the $70 buffet, to see if any buffet could ever impress me. Admittedly it was the best buffet I've had, but buffets in general are pretty unimpressive things.

Ordered from the A la Carte menu the rib eye and a creme brulee for dessert, I asked for the rib eye medium rare and while it came out a bit further cooked than I had asked was still a very tasty dish, the au jus was fantastic and the potato and beans were nicely cooked. Creme Brulee was fantastic and one of the best I've ever had. Service is very attentive and there is a good selection of wines by the glass to accompany your meal.

The buffet breakfast in the morning is good, they will cook you an egg to order and I would recommend the fruit smoothies (served in shot glasses) from the chilled section.

I experienced the a la carte dinner menu with a business colleague and found it of a high standard, although not as delicious as the French waitress. We both had the fillet steak which was tender and cooked well to our specifications and accompanied by good quality vegetable side dishes. The atmosphere and decor was elegant and pleasant.

About the only major drawback was the whopping prices attached to each course, nudging $50 for a fillet steak dish. As a hotel member a significant reduction was on offer negating that problem, however, but I'd hesitate to spend the money without that discount as it could be better spent elsewhere at those full prices.

I attended the Thyme2 buffet on monday 3rd November. The food was fantastic! There was a wide range of different foods available. The freshly made omlettes were of a high standard, they were well cooked and very flavoursome, and were prepared in only a short period of time. The poached eggs were also soft in the middle rather than hard as found on previous buffets before. An overall excellent dining experience.

I went here for buffet breakfast on Tuesday. The food was absolutely fantastic and there is a wide variety on offer. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The only thing I could fault was that it says that it is an "interactive" kitchen, however, I stood by the kitchen for 5 minutes waiting for a chef to come out to cook some eggs (they only had poached eggs on the buffet) but this never happened. Other than that the food that was there was magnificent. Fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, poached eggs, baked beans, waffles, chippolatas, pancakes to name a few.
