After reading so many good reviews, I thought it was only fair to write my own. The food to be honest was Not Real Thai. It was a westernised version of what I would call Slop. Since when does Thai fried rice have peas and corn in it? Not to mention the chicken chilli basil that had cauliflower and broccoli and mushroom in it. All 6 dishes we ordered lacked the much loved flavours of real Thai cuisine. Yuck yuck yuck is all I have to say.

After a long overdue makeover, Thaiways has been reborn. Now in a much smaller shop (next to the previous location) the fitout is modern and stylish. Gone, however, is access to the courtyard, which was so pleasant on balmy summer evenings. Fortunately, the Food is still absolutely great and the value outstanding!

I've been going to Thaiways for 15 years on and off, both eat in and takeaway. It has always been consistent and good. Great quality and value, a small group could have an enjoyable feast for under $20 per head. It is BYO and Albion Hotel bottle shop (BWS franchise) is only 40 meters away.
It is about as good as Thai gets in Brisbane, obviously not quite to the standard of say Sailor Thai in Sydney. It is a bit more to the Basic Aussie taste than to traditional and sophistocated genuine Thai style (ala David Thompson).
Food is always fresh and tasty with plenty of character and flavour. Try Kow Tung Na Tung, crystal balls and stuffed chicken wings and stuffed eggplant for starters.
For mains green currys and massumans are great and stirfry styles eg. ginger chicken or fried beef country style are also very flavourful.
The Thai salads and soups are very good too, try pork or chicken larp salad (lovely lemongrass flavour) or simple Thai beef salad is a winner. Seafood lovers don't miss chilli calamari or tom yum goong (spicy prawn soup). Plenty of great vegetarian option so vegetarians won't miss out on the fun at all.
This is a very basic casual comfortable dining environment, great for a couple, with or without the kids and also popular with larger groups. If there is a better Thai place out there within 10 ks of Brisbanee's CBD which doesn't drain the wallet dry, please let me know.

If this is the best Thai food in Brisbane. Brisbane is missing out. Was ok but need to hurry back.

Having been a Thaiways customer for 17 years, it's obvious that I'm a satisfied repeat customer! Occasionally, the service in the restaurant can be a bit hit-and-miss, and the dining room needs a makeover, but that's all part of the character of Thaiways! A hallmark of Thaiways has always been its consistency, even through ownership and cook changes. The Vegetarian Green Curry I got last week is as delicious as the same dish I ordered 17 years ago.
My friends, both vegetarians and carnivores, are also avid fans of Thaiways, and we use it as the official benchmark against which all other Thai restaurants are measured: "Is their food as good as Thaiways?" In particular, we have not been able to find better spring rolls than Thaiways vegetarian ones. For the flesh-eaters, Beef and Basil, Yellow Chicken Curry and Chicken and Cashews are recommended. If you haven’t been to Thaiways, you haven’t had Thai!

Best thai in Brisbane, great value for money and great servings. Staff are really friendly. Was recommended by my neighbour who love it also. Will recommend to my friends too. Can't wait to go back.

Not had a bad meal (eat-in or takeaway) in the 18 months we have lived nearby. Ask for the crystal balls (not always available) as a special treat.

We have not had a bad meal from this restaurant in the 3 years we have been going there. You can sit out the back in the beer garden in summer and it's a lovely night out. The service is very friendly. The prices are reasonable.

Great budget menu, red curry is the best and the seafood curry is great. Dining in is not very fancy but the take aways are the cheapest and best in Brisbane.
