We have been going to Superbowl for many years. I'm a little surprised to see comments that the food was not good, the food is the only reason we go and its great! Like any restaurant though, I have found that you do need to pick your meals.

Our picks: Salt n Pepper Squid - the best! Khao Kway Tao noodles. Sweet n Sour Pork, Pork Spare Ribs, Steamed Greens, Fried Rice, Seafood Laksa, Sizzling Mongolian Lamb.

I agree that service isn't great (especially if its busy) and don't expect a quiet restaurant! But in the end worth it for the value and the food.

We just went here for dinner and the food was awful. We had Tom Yum soup, mine was okay, my partner's tasted like spicy lime water. Our mains were: Salt and pepper squid, soggy and cold Mongolian Lamb, sugary and just not right
Tom Yum hot pot, (yes hot) but not spicy and tasted like peanut butter (no not even satay).

Service, well we asked about the Tom Yum soup and were told there was no way they were different as they came from the same pot. When we mentioned our disappointment with the other dishes we were told Superbowl has the best food in China Town and we were wrong. We were told it was our fault because it was our first time and we just didn't know how good the food was.

All in all we rate them -10. Although their steamed rice is okay. Not much of a consolidation given we were charged full price.

My friends and I love Super Bowl. The atmosphere is great for dinner before heading out for a night in the Valley and BYO anything. The service can be a bit slow but is hardly noticed amongst the noise and bustle, along with a few drinks.

If you are looking for somewhere quiet to go with your girlfriend, this is not your kind of restaurant. It's noisy and kinda cramped but the food is sensational - Their salt and pepper quail is delicious! It's also good value for money. We go there time and time again :)

Salt and Pepper Quail - YUM!

Ordered cashews rice and taste really not up to standard. The price is way too high than the quality produced. The restaurant is under maintenance so does not smell really good inside. The waiter and waitress dress really sucks and do not service in good manner.

I eat at this place every month sometimes twice. It is always very busy and sometimes service can be a little slow but if you can overlook the down side of the noise and slow service the food is always very good. Ask for no MSG as they do use it generally.

I rate the quail as being the best in Chinatown. Jimmy's Chicken Surprize is also a delight, but I'll warn you it is a very big serving. I am very predictable when I go there as it is a must to have the BBQ Duck with plum sauce and asian greens.
Try it with either the Pinot Noir or Grenache as it has never let me down in close to 20 sittings.

This is one of the few Chinese restaurants that gives some attention to their wine list so I must say there is no need to BYO as there are some cracker wines all served by the glass at more than reasonable prices. Great place for larger groups.

I have only eaten here twice but both times have been very satisfied with the food, I love the sichuan chili chicken. Don't come here for a quiet intimate meal, it's busy, loud and bustling, great for parties or group dinners. Food is well priced. Service can leave something to be desired on busy nights, it takes some wild maneuvers to get their attention at times.

I ate in this restaurant once and though it looked like it needed a good clean and a tradesman friend who later did some repair work there told me the kitchen was filthy. The food is laden with MSG. I'm white but can understand Cantonese and the proprietor made disparaging remarks about my wife and myself until I confronted him about it...in Cantonese...needless to say we won't be going back!!!

We always eat here when we come to Brisbane (about 4 times per year). As to ambience we always use the tables on the footpath as this provides a sense of bustle and the night life in the Valley. Great place, the food tastes great.

Well I don't know. Jimmy is certainly still in charge and is a great host. I have eaten there only 3 times and have enjoyed it each time for a different take on the menu. It is still very cheap for good honest non boring Chinese food.

Actually it is really cheap. We ate lots of BBQ things and the steamed greens with oyster sauce. $20 per head for three people. It also included icecream and plentiful fried rice for an addtional four yrs old who eats like a supermodel. Complimetary fruit concluded our meal. I love the ambience quite frankly ..... good eating house with a mix of people tucking in to great food. What's not to like?

I ate here at least monthly until a couple of years ago. The old (fantastic) owner Jimmy and his wife must have sold, as another older gent seems to run the show now. The food has gone up in price considerably, and given that there are some very cheap Asain cuisnine in close proximity, only go a few times a year. Most recent was last w/end.

The restaurant on entry looks like it needs a good clean. The carpet and walls are dirty, and the walk way to the bathroom facilities is not so clean. The tables have butchers paper on them over old vinyl table coverings. Behind us (in the restaurant) a waiter was drying chopsticks loudly on a table behind us between tea towls.

Our waiter was polite and took us to our seats. Promptly, wine glasses were provided for us, as was Chinese tea which is a nice touch, and menues given. The wine we had was sparkling, and the waiter opened it, poured our first glass and an ice bucket was provided. The menues need replacing! They are laminated and ours were old and worn. The person who came to take our order was different, and had trouble understanding us, not being able to answer Q's about the menu items.

Thing that really let this place down is our entree's came out, and literally 1 min later, our mains arrived. By the time we finished our quail for entree (Excellent and very trasty, cooked perfectly), our mains were cold. Very cold. I mentioned it to the waiter who then removed our food claiming he would heat up! Our microwaved food returned, but by now the steamed rice in its container was cold and had a dry texture. The seafood's bird nest was soggy from its reheating
The crispy pork the same. The fine white crispy noodles under it were like soft egg noodles.

We didn't eat much of the main. The bill for corkage, 2 quail, and 2 dishes with steamed rice was $76.00. I won't be back in a hurry.
