My family and I had dinner last night at the Steak & Crabhouse at the Belvedere. Fantastic, my mudcrab was to die for as was my wife's fresh snapper. All the kids hoovered a rump steak. Great night out thanks Belvedere. First class food, service and great view!

This looked like a great place. Live music with a great spot near the water and heaps of people inside can't be wrong, right? Wrong.

Whilst the atmosphere was pretty good, the food was unbelievably expensive. The menu is adorned with standard pub fare at hugely inflated prices. I reluctantly ordered a $36 steak with chips and had high hopes. But I'm afraid it was massively overcooked. This is not just a matter of my opinion, it was dry and burnt. The typical pub salad and chips unattractively presented beside it didn't really help.

If I'd paid $12 for this at Thursday Steak Night at my local pub I would still have been disappointed. But $36? They are kidding themselves.

My partner ordered the seafood spaghetti and couldn't eat it. The limited amount of seafood was overcooked and the pasta boiled to within an inch of its life before having butter stirred through it. Having had many a spaghetti marinara, she knew what to expect, particularly for the price they were asking, but was bitterly disappointed.

It astounds me that this place was so busy. Surely not everyone was there for their first time? I just don't understand. It has so much potential, but, unfortunately, it is seriously substandard. On the plus side, the piano player/singer they had for entertainment was very talented.

I'd give it 0 stars for value if I could. 2 stars is generous for the food. Ambience would be a 10 if not for the dry steak and butter soaked pasta ruining it.
