I dined at Manx recently and the food was ok the portions were miniscual, and really overpriced, and they were not very busy. I walked past a couple of weeks later and the place was packed and there was a new menu on display, so we decided to go in. The food that we received was fantastic and there was so much beautiful food that we could not finish our meals, and the price was way cheaper than the previous chefs menu. I would go back to manx in a heartbeat the value for money was out of this world, and the staff were very fantastic, very attentive and looked like they were having fun.

Manx is positioned in the up-market Portside precinct and the menu is certainly pitched right up there! Where there's a total disconnect is with the wait staff and the service which is, well, a complete disaster.

When we arrived at 8.30 pm (Sat, Aug 13) the waiter went to seat us in the middle of the quarter-full outside dining area, we asked for a table off to one side where we wouldn't be sitting under spotlights, this request was complied with efficiently if not reluctantly, however, from this point in time this waiter was especially unfriendly towards us. Frankly, we can live without the drama! Totally and completely uncalled for.

Added to his inappropriate behaviour we were not offered the opportunity to order pre-dinner drinks, no specials were explained to us, no additional cutlery was added to the table once we had placed our order [which included entrees]. We had to ask for knives and forks to eat our main courses with when they arrived (the waiter actually left 2 main courses and a side of veges on a table with no cutlery!?). No cutlery was left to serve the side-order of beans, I'm glad it wasn't a business dinner!

When we ordered dessert we asked for a list of liqueurs or ports and we were informed there wasn't one and the waiter (different waiter, a female one this time..) proceeded to rattle off half a dozen liqueurs which are probably very popular at the local disco. Don't people who dine at Manx like a decent single-malt or port to finish dinner off? What kind of place is this?

Then to cap it all off, when dessert arrived there were no forks! Just imagine the "fun" we had trying to eat dessert with no fork, pushing food from one end of the plate top the other with a spoon, we almost expected a candid camera crew to spring up and tell us it was all a joke!.... but alas, it wasn't a joke.

The food was good which is what I expect at these prices and in this location even though the chocolate sauce on my venison (main course) went missing in action and that particular dish was presented with the finesse of a counter-meal from the local pub but otherwise the food was fine.

Unfortunately, the whole experience was marred by the inept and inappropriate behaviour of the front of house staff who would probably struggle to cut it at McDonalds, never mind work in a fine dining restaurant.

This is a very disappointing restaurant! The service is amateur; the menu is very vanilla and poorly executed. The wine list lacks any depth or excitement.

The meals were poorly prepared: the pork main was bland and overcooked, the Kingfish fillet had several bones in it, and the oysters were not served after they had been ordered, as they “we off”.

I would like to think that a restaurant would purchase oysters fresh from the market each day and it would not take until 9pm at night to work out they are not fit for consumption.

I have received better service from my local café. We had to pour our own wine and ask to more table water throughout the night. The food was ordinary; it did not really offend me, but it certainly did not excite or impress me.

The menu displayed on the internet was the reason I chose this restaurant, but unfortunately the menu that I was given on the night had very little correlation with the internet version.

If this restaurant was either in Sydney or Melbourne, it would not last two months. If you’re looking for a fine dining restaurant in Brisbane, look elsewhere and this is certain to provide hearty doses of disappointment.

Sick and tired of going to breakfast and getting one sausage, one bacon rasher? Look no more, had the most amazing breakfast at Manx last Saturday. A must is the breakfast for two in a pan, Outstanding! Value for money, eggs cooked absolutely perfectly! So sick of going out for breakfast and paying a huge amount for breakfast and turns up not as you ordered.

Restaurant Manx you have hit it on the head! Excellent value, excellent taste, excellent service! This restaurant is a must for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I have been privileged enough to try all. Keep it up you just keep getting better.

Was lucky enough to be taken here for dinner on Valentines Day. The service and the food were both wonderful (especially the lemon souffle). We will definitely be back with friends.
