O'Tooles is an Irish theme pub that belongs to a corporate chain of similar pubs - so the service is often mechanical and sterile. Bar staff dressed in corporate uniforms just tells you it's a business, not a 'pub'. Like most pubs, it has its ups and downs. I'm not a great fan of shelves and wonder if they are real or props. The prints of Irish Poets and other Gaelic bits and pieces adorn the walls keeps your eyes interested for a while but after a few visits you begin to realise that that the locals who drink there appear not to know who W.B.Yeats, George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett and Seamus Heaney are. Perhaps they do but know that being learned doesn't really mix with good old Aussie anti-intellectualism.

    &middotGood Pub food

    &middotNice cold beer

    &middotRegular entertainment nights.

But if you want a real Irish pub go visit The Comet

    Swords Rd, Dublin.
