This was our first visit to Leon Restaurant but the people we went with are frequent flyers and they assured us we were in good hands. I must say that my partner and I were a little concerned when we pulled up as the streetscape does not give much away about what is inside.
On entry the friendly staff took us to the back of the restaurant which opens up to a rather nice room. Concerns about the decor now in the past we were issued with menus and wine list.
This place specialises in seafood dishes and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. The Trout with Ginger and garlic sauce with a touch of soy was divine. The dried beef with sweet and sour (a different version to what I know as Peking beef) was very good as well. Our Duck was a touch dry and tough and little lacking in flavour but over all everything was presented well and with very friendly staff.
The real let down with this place is the complete lack of attention with beverage. I must say the wine list is close to the worst I have seen for 20 years. Everything listed can be bought at BWS at $10 or less and they are asking $25+ I hate that! Tsing Tao at $7.80 would be close to about the most expensive in Brisbane.
If you do go there BYO as if you like your wines you won't find a thing to drink of that wine list. It is a shame as the food is good and the place has a pleasant feeling about it.

After discovering this hidden gem only 6 weeks ago we've eaten here 1/2 a dozen times plus Chinese New Year! What a surprise when you walk in the door! Its a lot bigger and really lovely inside, unlike what we expected. Eric and Rita treat you like one of the family and thus I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I have spoken to! Even going for dinner tonight with picky Chinese eaters from Sydney!

This is definitely an above-average Chinese restaurant. Generally the food is fresh and delicious. The owners Eric and Rita are sincere and dedicated people. An extra benefit is that is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Brisbane that does not use MSG. An in-house specialty is black sesame ice cream - very good. The ambience is very nice and clean, and superior to most suburban Chinese restaurants.
