With a great setting on the Brisbane river and nice appearance, we were expecting big things from Kingsleys.

Sadly they did not follow. Service was slow and confused, and several menu items were not available. Nor was our selection from the wine list. Well over an hour passed between ordering and mains arriving (I timed it), approximately 45-50 minutes into this time I was advised that the mashed potato I ordered on the side wasn't available either. No mashed potato. How does a steakhouse run out of potato?

The supervisor came to inquire if "everything was okay" once our mains (eventually) arrived. She then proceeded to ask if we'd like to order more drinks even though all our glasses were full. We declined and then she asked a second time, saying "the night was still young". This seemed rude, and appears very questionable RSA policy, especially since in the time we were waiting for mains we'd been offered more drinks at least 3 times already.

The entrees tasted great, but the main was adequate at best. Extra charges applied for sauces and such "the steak comes with nothing on the side". My steak was ordered medium rare, it tasted more like medium-well. I really can't be sure since there was very little light at our table, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Assuming it was cooked correctly, it tasted very ordinary for the price.

Considering the good reviews, our bad experience at Kingsleys does seem out of place. Maybe they were having an off night or something, still it's not really an excuse, especially since there were more staff in the restaurant than diners. Long delays and unimpressive food, charged at a premium. We won't be back.

Revision: Have been advised by fellow diner that the toilets were unclean and smelled bad.

We dined at Kingsleys recently for a special night out and were not disappointed. We were seated promptly despite having arrived early. I had the chilli crab for mains, which was delicious but really messy, staff were only too happy to assist with the provided plastic apron and extra serviettes.

I would recommend the scallops for entree, they were lovely. The wine list was also a winner. We left feeling a little overstuffed with food because we didn't want to miss a bite.

We dined at Kingsley's recently on a Friday night and had a wonderful evening. The complimentary bread was so moorish you could devour a whole loaf. My partner had a rib eye on the bone cooked medium rare and he said that it was the best steak that he has ever had. I had the Alaskan King Crab legs and they were divine, the best seafood I have ever eaten. I was guided by our attentive waiter who suggested that the best way to have them was cold just with mayonnaise.

The only donwside was that there was only a small amount of mayonnaise provided and some lemon. Our side dishes were well cooked. Everything came out at a similar time. The wines that we had were also a good accompaniment to our meals. I finished off with a scrumptious passionfruit tart on crisp pastry accompanied by macadamia nut ice-cream and my partner had a wonderful irish coffee. A great ending to a magic meal.

We left behind a couple of items and did not get far away before the attentive staff called us to remind us of our missing items. Great service and a pleasure to dine here.

Have been to Kingsley's dozens of times over the last 10 years for business and family dinners. Sadly, the standards have really slipped at what should be a premier restaurant. On my last visit the carpetbag steak was not available, so we ordered a rump (medium rare) with variety of sides. Sides arrived at our table almost immediately, while rump took a further 20 minutes. One bite was enough - the rump was the toughest piece of meat I've been served. Embarrassingly, my guests also had tough cuts. We hailed staff to voice our displeasure and were told that rump is a less tender cut; this is generally true, but not so tough that you have to chew it forever. She suggested that we order something else and we wouldn't be charged for the steaks.

When we finished our meal they tried to charge us for the steaks. Ended up not charging. Won't ever be bringing clients back. A real shame.

I am really not sure what has happened to Kingsley's steak since our visit last time. My wife and I used to go there fair bit, and thought the steak was awesome. However, having just gone back there with bunch of work colleague last night, I have noticed a huge drop in the steak quality. The steak used to chargrill to perfection, but for some reason the steak I had a really bitter and burnt taste last night. My $59 worth of Rib eye was no better than Sizzler steak. I certainly hope this was only an once off, and def don't want to see the quality of my favourite steak house going down.

Went to Kingsleys for my mothers 50th birthday. The service was excellent and although early, we were seated right away. The bread was delicious and fresh and I could have eaten an entire loaf! For entrees we had the Scallops and the Sticky baby back ribs. Both were delicious!

Mum had the Carpet Bag (crab stuffed steak) and said it was fantastic. I had the rump with a side of Potato Gratin and Broccolini, and it was one of the best steaks I have eaten. We thought it was going to be more expensive than it was so were pleasantly surprised when we received the bill. We will definitely be returning!

We ate here during our recent trip to Brisbane over Easter. The prices here are definitely not cheap and for the money you pay the food is okay but not awesome. The location of this restaurant is nice alongside the river.

The bread they bring out was very nice as were our entrees of tempura soft shell crab and Spanish chorizo. Our mains were Angus Eye Fillet and whilst the meat was nice I can’t say that I thought it was fantastic.

Our waitress was very attentive and we found the service to be great even though it was quite full. If I am in Brisbane again in the near future, I would consider eating here again.

I've heard the crab was brilliant, but it was actually under the expectation. I order the crab with salt pepper. It was very hard to eat. I won't say taste is bad but it was my ex birthday, so I was wearing nice dress.Almost messed up to eat crub, maybe just I shouldn’t eat crab on such a special day, I recommend wearing jeans and more casual clothes if you wanna eat crab there.

I heard salt and pepper was the best, but wasn't really that good. The crab was covered by salt and pepper but wasn’t really tasty inside. Just messed up my hands. Crab is really big but wasn’t you can eat all, not much content. I had a little bit steak but was average, maybe a little bit above than average. The best dish here was salad, the dressing was really great. So I don’t really feel I wanna go again.

Went here recently with a group of business people and was very disappointed. Food was OK and I mean OK. Not good but not bad. Service was very slow - having to wait 90 minutes after sitting down for your main course is unacceptable. Excuse given was "We are busy so you'll just have to put up with it." Never again!
