Overview of The Gunshop Cafe

The Gunshop Café is a home away from home for many located in West End - Brisbane’s cultural centre. A relaxed environment filled with chatter and the enticing aromas of a busy kitchen. All our food is made with fresh produce purchased daily from the Brisbane markets. Our award winning weekend breakfasts are notoriously busy. The cafe transforms during the day to a popular watering hole later in the week at the rear courtyard bar area then more of a fine dining experience for dinner.

We had 2 inedible lunches there and one over garlicked, when 3 of us went there for lunch. The management was rude and did not care that our food was awful. Highly suggest to skip this place. Won't bother to try it again. Very bad.

Fantastic Food. I have had breakfast at Gunshop several times before and have always enjoyed my experience. I had lunch there today for the first time and thought the food was fantastic. Service was good and the food came out promptly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

What a joke, entree sized meals served as a main course and they slog you $33 for the privilege of dinning there. Food tasted good but was way too small for what you get. Over priced rip off. Do not dine here for dinner.

We went on saturday for breakfast, we arrived around 10 am and there was quite a queue, we were seated after about ten minutes, you will get a table quicker if there is only two of you. I ordered the omelette and my wife the vodka cured ocean trout, we both ordered mugs of flat white but we were given cups instead, the meals arrived after about 15 minutes (it is very busy at breakfast time).

I was disappointed with my omelette it was huge but very dry, my wifes meal wasn't that much better she asked for her eggs runny but they were hard. It is not a cheap breakfast and I expected better from all the reviews. May try it again when not so busy.

Had breakfast here last Sunday. Service excellent, food was fantastic (bacon and eggs), fresh and plentiful. Everyone at our table was really happy with the food and service. This is our second visit to The Gun Shop and have been pleasantly surprised both times. Will definitely return for breakfast (and be prepared for it to be busy), and would definitely recommend this restaurant overall.

Went there for a coffee. Will not be returning for a coffee. A flat white is flat, it is not a cappuccino without the chocolate dusting (and awesome bubbly foam). The taste of the coffee was very unpleasant.

Lovely spot, been a couple times now and always delicious. Brisbane restaurants are twice the price of other world cities, but compared to other Brisbane restaurants it's good value.

As with many others, I have noticed a decline in the quality of service at Gunshop. At a recent lunch my meal had a key ingredient substituted without any warning to me. The waitress's response was less than gracious, it was quite surly and huffy and involved her walking away from me mid-sentence, much to the amusement of me fellow diners. The response from the senior staff, when contacted by email, wasn't much better, a series of bad excuses and no genuine apology.

It is such a disappointment to see one of Brisbane's long-standing restaurants fail to understand the importance of treating customers well, and owning up to and trying to make amends for mistakes.
