Went there for Chinese New Year with a group of 16. We were originally told that the Banquet consisted of 9 plates of food. However we only got 6 different plates (only the fried rice was listed on their original Banquet menu). All of the meals were luke warm. When we asked for dipping sauce, we had to wait 20mins and asked 4 different people for it!
Instead of Sesame Prawn Toast, there was some strange looking strips of beef. Instead of BBQ Pork in Plum Sauce, there was cold fried pork. The 'Sizzling' Mongolian Beef was not sizzling. The 'Garlic' King Prawns looked and tasted like 'Bland' Baby Prawns, and instead of having the Ice Cream with Lychees, we got 'Petit Fours' which was more like 'Petit Twos'. Actually, it was more like 5 bits of cut up sponge cake and Chinese Sesame Seed balls.
When we received the bill, they had overcharged us. We were originally quoted $32.80 and ending up paying $39.90. When we complained and even showed her the email with the prices listed, they told us that we had changed it! We told her that on the phone she said the price was $32.80, she said we heard her wrong! She didn't care and we had no choice but to pay it. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Worst Chinese food we've ever had! BBQ pork was not served how BBQ pork should be and honey chicken was over cooked to the point of dark brown with next to no honey! Will not go back and am crossing my fingers that neither my partner nor I end up feeling ill! Avoid this place at all costs!

I agree with another poster that this place used to be good. However we visited last night and the place has really gone down hill. The fried rice was dry and had hard bits of rice though it. The "edible" basket that the seafood dish came in was not crispy and seemed like it could have been several days old and reheated. The second dish which was pork spare ribs in a cointreau sauce, tasted OK, but it came long after the first and was lukewarm, like it had been plated then forgotten about. The bill was written in chinese so it was impossible to check what was on it. The cashier was disinterested and did not inquire whether everything had been OK. With plenty of competition in the area they really need to get it right every time. We won't be going back.

Peking duck was poor. Pancakes dry and hard. Wagu steak was boiled, in fact given amount of side fat highly doubt it was Wagu more like boiled blade- unedible. Steamed duck was overcooked and once again even for chinese standards was excessively fatty. All up food was junk. This restaurant is really tired and in desperate need a makeover incl. the decor, kitchen and management.
No need to say I won't be going back.

This place used to be very good. However, when we went there last weekend for Yum Cha after some months it had gotten very dirty. And the food was nowhere near as good as it has been in the past. Was cold and just did not tastes as nice.
It needs a good clean, chair covers carpets, toilets. We would have thought that Brisbane council would inspect restaurants and tell them to keep their places clean. We probably won't go back.

We went to the Golden Palace tonight. It was the worst dining experience! The waiter could not understand us, he had to ask the kitchen what was in the meals, he got our order wrong (twice), we received 2 glasses of wine when we only ordered 1, we received 1 soup instead of 2, the fried rice tasted like charcoal, the duck was tough and the sauce it was in was bland, when we went to pay the lady took forever and didn’t acknowledge or speak to us.
We were charged for 3 soups instead of 2, we left the restaurant and then immediately remembered that we hadn’t used our entertainment card, so I went straight back in, only to be told that we should have presented it before we paid. Needless to say, we won’t be going back again.

I went there for yum cha. I found it was surprisingly nice. The rate was given from the yum cham experience only. I would like to try their dinner menu some time.

Great place!! We turned up late when there was no one around. But the service was still amazing, even though I was paranoid that we had to leave soon. Still, the staff made us feel very welcome for the whole time we were there.
I really dig sweet and sour pork, and theirs is tops. The Fried Rice was beautiful. My friend had Singapore Noodles, it looked great and it was a huge serving. In fact all of our servings were big. Such great value as I paid a whole lot less than what I expected to, and that's including booze. The place is a bit out of the way, slightly hidden, up stairs and so on. But inside is very nice, and although we were the only two there I could imagine how great it would be when it is packed. Nice chandeliers, tables, gold trims, deco, etc. There was a stage so I guess they put on shows, but like I said we were late. The only thing that bugged me about the atmosphere was the big, grey and hideous Coca-Cola fridges behind the bar.
This is a lovely place that rewards you for picking and choosing, rather than sitting at the first available table outside the rest of the many trash-bag Chinese places in the Valley's China Town (Places that would probably charge the same price as the Golden Fountain anyway!) I've already mentioned the exceptional service, but it deserves another mention.
