1st week in June 2010. The Red Emperor was so overcooked it was tough. The "Hot Seafood Plate"? Well your local fish and chip shop would do better at one third the price. Each plate - $35. The lunch was a total disgrace which embarrassed me and my two guests from overseas.

Food was very average, seafood arrived cold and was very overpriced for what it was. Served by a Korean waitress/(student) who could speak little English and had a lot of difficulty pronouncing the 'sour dough' bread and the 'corn' bread on offer. The Irish waiter (backpacker), Barry didn't do much better. Wine didn't arrive. Hand cut chips ordered as a side with the mains arrived as we were finishing our entrees! Gambaro has been resting on their longstanding name and reputation for too long now and needs to pick up their game.

Coming from interstate we were told that this was 'the' seafood restaurant in Brisbane. On first impressions walking through the door this is a fine dining restaurant and the prices reflect this. The food was very good and the service excellent, however, I felt overall it was let down by the restaurant decor and general ambience. It felt more like a local hotel bistro than a fine dining restaurant. Don't know that I'll be back.
