I had a friend visiting from interstate and she was staying at the Stamford. The restaurant we had intended on dining at was booked out and we had to wait, so we decided to try Fix at the Port Office. It turned out to be a great move, the food was the best we have eaten out in a long time. My steak was cooked to perfection and the dessert was to die for. The service was very attentive. Well worth a visit.

Great meal at this restaurant, but we were informed that the Entertainment Card only gave a discount of $30.00 when in fact it gives $35.00 so now I have to go back to collect the correct change. Only 5 dollars but that's not the point.

This restaurant was so disappointing. The service was great but 3 out of the 4 meals were terrible. I ordered the baby octopus for entree which tasted like flour. My prawn risotto was stodgy and the prawns were tough, my husbands main meal of lamb was tender but has a sauce on that was tasted burnt and bitter. My husbands entree of scallops was delicious! so we couldn't work out why all the meals were not.

Also the service was almost too quick. We had less than 2 minutes between our entrees being taken away and our mains being served. The restaurant was quiet so we couldn't see why they were hurrying us out of there. We had heard good things about Fix but our meals were shocking!

Food was pretty good but the service was awful. Had to ask 3 times for winelist and wine only arrived after repeated requests. Entree plates were taken away as we were asked if we had enjoyed the meal and if we wanted a dessert, and then surprise that we hadn't yet had our mains.

I went here last week with a colleague from work. She ordered the prawn risotto and I ordered the Salmon with asian greens. Both dishes 29.99 each and both were really good. Service was great and atmosphere great as well. Good selection of wine at normal bar/restaurant prices. Overall a good night out!

I've been a regular customer at Fix restaurant on and off for a number of years. Since the renovations it seems to have taken on a new lease of life. The place was always good but now it seems as though the port office has out done themselves.

An unusual night out for dinner with my wife. The french waiter was one of the best I've experienced in any restaurant, clearly from a fine dining background. The food was very ordinary at best. "Crispy" pork belly was chewy, and had cartilage pieces in it. The pork sausage came with a disgustingly pungent sauce/jus that tasted of burnt brown sugar, brandy/cognac and vinegar, and was so overpoweringly 'vinegary' to make the whole dish inedible.

I spoke to the excellent waiter, and sent the sausage back to the kitchen, barely touched after just 2 small tastes (1 for me and 1 for my wife to confirm its status as inedible), and ordered a small steak instead. The senior staff came over and arrogantly questioned my taste, saying "I had it for lunch and it was fine". The steak came with a mushroom sauce that had similar problems with its taste (ie burnt brown sugar and brandy), but I could scrape all the sauce away from this dish. The steak itself was tender and cooked almost perfectly rare.

When I asked for my bill, the senior staff then demanded that I pay for both the sausage dish I sent back, and the steak I replaced it with! That's not cool, and clearly I did not pay for the sausage. The poor waiter got stuck between an arrogant senior staff and a calm but unsatisfied customer, and he was still professional about everything (despite the disappointing food and senior staff, the waiter still got a cash tip for being so excellent).

I'm a Brisbane local, and work around the corner from this place. Been here several times before and never had a problem, but last night left a bad taste in my mouth. Like I said, an unusual night and a schizophrenic mix of very good and very bad.

Have the steak - it's the best steak I've ever had anyway! Chargrilled to perfection and the jus is sweet and complements the steak beautifully. Wife usually has the chicken and gnocchi which is also great. We had her 30th here in the Wine Room - one of the best nights out we've ever had. The staff were first class.

Cannot recommend highly enough!

This is our local and the whole show is very well run by the manager Ruben. He looks after us every time and the girls are very friendly and efficient. The menu is the usual cut above pub style and varied enough to challenge the numerous taste styles. The crowd is after work trendy and business types and the drinks are at bar prices with a solid wine list. Not too noisy as the tables are well spaced. All up this place runs like clockwork and the food if fine. Just a good consistent restaurant in the city. What more could you want.
