As a frequent visitor to Brisbane from Sydney I have had many an occasion over the years to catch up with friends and business colleagues for Dinner at El Taco. We enjoy the food at El Taco very much and we have always found the staff to be professional and attentive. We have tried a number of other Mexican restaurants in Brisbane but we always keep coming back to El Taco.

After a four year break I returned to El Taco tonight and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I have not seen the restaurant as busy as it was since the 1980's, yet the service was prompt, friendly and the food was delicious. I have been going to El Taco now for thirty years and I'd have to say that the restaurant is the best it's ever been. I was here tonight with a party of 16 for my birthday and I tell you, I'll be back next year for my birthday too!

I'd say it only took 60 secs for my drink to be delivered after ordering it! Best service anywhere, period! To finish I must also note, that after travelling to Mexico last year and sampling some of their best cuisines, El Taco dishes come the closest. I love El Taco and will be back regularly.

They left a meal off our order. The service was sullen. Decor is tired and tacky. A basic menu. Food was ordinary Mexican, nothing to rave about. I won't be back.

Being latin american myself and having spent some time in Mexico I feel I have a somewhat knowledgeable opinion about it's food. Although "El Taco Mexican" is not marketed as an authentic Mexican restaurant I went there with the hopes of finding some flavors or techniques that would remind me of Mexico. Sadly I was mistaken.

Although the food is not bad, just bland and I rated it as average, I was sad they missed the mark on everything by targeting to an uneducated audience of eaters that fill their tacos with shredded lettuce and sour cream. Everything seemed to be taken out of a box or a can. The "hard taco shells", the tomato sauce and even the refried beans had Old El Paso written all over them.

The desserts were as unimaginative as the rest of the menu, but I wonder if this is what should be expected from a suburban restaurant? Next time I want a fake taco, I'll go to the supermarket, make it myself and definitely not for $8 a pop.

All five of us are locals and have dined there over the years and this will definitely be the last time for us all. The waitress was hopeless no offer of glasses for the wine drinkers nor drink orders taken for 35 minutes. The Sangria was ughhh no alcohol. Nachos to the best of my knowledge do not usually float in red water but mine did. Tasteless, soggy, the extra strong chilli sauce on the side was watered down and tasted of vinegar. A birthday dinner I shall not forget.

I've been going to El Taco for about twenty years and I have to tell you, the restaurant is at it's best right now. Went through a bit of a rough patch for a few years, but the food, service and atmosphere at present is top class. El Taco is the best restaurant on the northside, the food is unbelievably good and the service, especially from the friendly waiter guy, is more than anyone could wish for. Great place!

Awesome service and value for money, which makes the night a big high anyway.
Fantastic! Ambience, just a bit of music would have been great. Food, was great but needed to be a little hotter as in temperature wise. But all in all a great place and I will be going back!
