Curry Connection consistently does absolutely sensational Indian, and the number of Indian diners always eating there attests to that. The fairly succinct menu features mainly stalwarts that are executed extremely well (such as the to-die-for butter chicken, the light & crispy samosas and delicious lamb roganjosh). The dhal and tandoori chicken are usually great, and the aloo baingan (potato & eggplant dish) is lovely - especially if the eggplant has been slightly charred in the cooking, giving the dish a wonderful smoky flavour.
Dishes are served in little stainless steel and copper pots over individual tealight candles to keep the dish warm (a romantic touch). The individual dishes on the menu are moderately priced but can get quite a bit pricier when adding the essential accompaniments; however, the banquet menu (recently increased to $28/person from $25 after a good many years) is fantastic value and deserves a 10/10 value rating. Luchtime thali specials are also very good value.
Service can be erratic, but if you've been to India you'll find it nostalgic and amusing. Waitstaff seem to dash hopelessly like frantic chooks from corner to corner, never seeming to be achieving or conveying anything and you wonder if you'll ever get noticed or served, and then miraculously everything you want has appeared at your table in reasonable time (and delicious state) and you hardly know how it happened. Curry Connection is my favourite Indian, and we visit it appromixamtely once a month.
Curry Connection is one of the best Indian food you can find around the metro area. A must try are the lamb briyani, lamb sukha and their thosai (crispy pancake) on Sundays. You can't go wrong with any of their chicken dishes and the naan are very fresh and nice too.
There are also afforadable student meals for students. You can ask for mild, medium and hot and trust me, they know exactly what to do. The owner is a nice friendly man whereas the waiting staff frequently change every few months but I have noticed they have been geting friendlier over the past 2 years. You may have to wait a while for your food but good Indian food takes time and effort!
I grew up in India and I love this place. The food is quite authentic, chunks of meat or veg in the sauce and very filling. They know the meaning of hot or mild if you ask. Nice.
We've been here quite a few times and always love it! My boyfriend loves the vegetable kofta which is really good, samosas and other entrees are great, and although it is usually filled with uni students, the atmosphere is nice, definitely not too noisy or anything, definitely recommended!
