Overview of Claret House Wine Bar

Tucked away in the London Woolstores building in Teneriffe, Claret House is stylish, laid back and feels a bit like home.

A relaxed space by day, with a breezy deck perfect for people watching, it positively twinkles at night thanks to the lights peeking through an array of antique bentwood chairs hanging from the high ceiling beams.

As the name suggests, Claret House takes an obsessive delight in wine. The list is varied, fairly priced, and well matched to the Modern European menu designed by rising star, Chef Dan Cossart. Service is light years away from the average inner City venue at this upmarket yet unstuffy wine bar, where Jimmy Choo wearing locals mix with after work City suits, cool old guys drinking Chivas by the bottle and skinny jeaned students hunting up the next big thing.

Now this is a wine bar, Contemporary without being pompous, this little soiree is a perfect place to be exposed to the best in nibbles and boasts an amazing wine list. The owner/sommelier is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and will recommend the perfect wine for any occasion. Can't go wrong by starting or ending your night here.

Great wine list. High quality share plates - the focus is clearly on great produce done well, rather than a long list of entrees and mains. Fantastic cheese list.

The atmosphere is great. Claret House is a little gem that I hope doesn't get too popular.

Absolute gem of a place, with a long long wine list, though there's a page of 'by the glass' if you're not into wading through the list. Great bar food, I had a terrine which screamed 'French farmhouse' - most enjoyable. Relaxing ambience and staff who always seemed to sense when I wanted something. A Plus.
