The food here is lovely and every time I have been its been packed. There is a great atmosphere. A bit of a communication barrier with some of the staff.

I have been eating at this establishment for over 4 yrs and have always found it to be good value for money. The service is prompt and friendly, and the meals arrive in a good time frame. The prices have increased marginally over the years, but the product has always been good. The restaurant is always full of what looks like the local community and I think this is an indication of the quality served.

Visiting for lunch the other day we noted dine-in prices on the lunch menu for the specials are now $9.50 eat-in. We ordered one of the 'standards' - 'Spicy Calamari' which was not as tasty as previously experienced, nor as plentiful. However, it was still served with choice of a small bowl of steamed or (egg) fried rice.
From the 'Vietnamese Specials' the Pork Spare Ribs with Spring Rolls and Vermicelli sounded appealing (and at $10.50 was at the top end of the lunch menu price scale) but in reality presented as a bowl of cold (undressed) vermicelli noodles, topped with water-logged carrot and cucumber - the 'spare ribs' comprising of some very small slivers of cold pork scattered with peanuts and the spring rolls (2) cut in quarters, and again cold.
The accompanying bowl of basically sugar, water and some chopped chilli lacked fish sauce and any real flavour profile and just added to the overall 'sogginess'. Overall, a real struggle to enjoy anything about this dish.
We previously reviewed in 2011 - Have continued to visit this venue over the years and in 2008 things went downhill somewhat but recalled West End Garden offers a $8.50 lunch special menu (they do offer other lunchtime choices on this menu but they are at their normal a-la-carte prices so read carefully).
On the way to the (superb) Valentino Retrospective at MOMA we were after something quick and tasty so decided to drop in last week. Ordered the 'Spicy Calamari' and the 'Mongolian Beef' from the fairly standard (read safe) choices. Both came with steamed or fried rice and we expected the rice to be on the same plate so were surprised when we received a more than decent sized separate plate of fried rice.
The spicy calamari disappeared in record time, the coating was crisp, the calamari tender with a thin spicy sauce spooned over.
Mongolian Beef was more pedestrian but also generous in size and vegies nice and crisp. Service was swift with iced water quickly provided. For $17 we left very full and certainly feeling we'd received great value for money. Noting the large amount of other lunch-time diners we are not the only ones to think this. Try here when next catching a movie at the nearby Southbank Cinemas during the week.
In 2007 I reviewed as follows: Have dined here on numerous occasions over the years. Pretty consistent food. Can get packed on Friday and Saturday nights especially with larger groups. Young staff well meaning but service can be somewhat haphazard. Picks are the Vietnamese dishes: Vietnamese Combination Spring Rolls, Sugarcane Prawns, Kung Pao Prawns, Garden Shin Beef, Salt and Pepper Squid, Spicy Fried Rice, Creamy Prawns.

Don’t do it! Despite the food being lovely, I cannot believe the disgusting service my friends and I received at Libertine. When you’re paying 5 star prices at a restaurant, you expect high quality service right? Well the staff and owner of Libertine disagree. I was shocked and appalled at the attitude and behaviour of the staff and owner at Libertine. We were disappointed that firstly we weren’t told it was a two hour sitting – and why would we expect it when we’d been there before and sat at our table for a good 2.5 hours! On top of that, we were quickly ushered away when our meal wasn’t even finished, a staff member spilt a sauce on my friend’s dress, they didn’t offer dessert or any drinks once we were moved, a waiter slammed the menu’s on our table and kept walking, the bar staff proceeded to bash the crap out of several bags of ice right next to us, and when we expressed our disappointment, the staff grumpily shrugged us off and said “Fine, I’ll get you the bill”. We spoke to the owner who did not apologise, but rather came up with every excuse he could find to basically blame us (the paying customers) for our unsatisfactory evening. In all my life, I have never experienced such terrible management!

Brilliant. We rocked up late on a Monday night, ordered the banquet menu for 7 and were eating 10 minutes later. Service was well paced with our appetites, and friendly to boot. Simple environment but it was clean and tidy, and nice to be in. Highly recommended.

Never been here before and wanted to find a relaxing place on my own and try a healthy alternative. Sick of just rice and noodles. Had a wonderful meal stir fry beef & vegs & ginger and tried there coconut & green bean frappe - different but nice. Staff were very attentive and the place soon got crowded and all the meals that come out looked nice...

I went today but left very angered, firstly, the woman that works there loves to stare and watch us and it is extremely uncomfortable as she probably thinks we will run even though it'd be hard to dine and dash in a place like that.
Secondly, unfortunately, (although it was my own fault) I was .80c short, I had $40, (which was overpriced too) some of the drinks weren't included in the menu, assuming it'd be just around $3 because of other local Vietnamese restaurants selling drinks for that price and less. I left my cousin waiting for me while I went to find .80c somehow, I had to go all the way to my car and back, and I returned to my cousin saying that we actually owe them $1.80 because the casier miscaculated.
Yes I understand it is a business but really .80c? We would've happily returned (with more money) if they weren't too stingy already but I will never return again and will tell my family and friends to not go there.
I actually dislike the woman who works there because of this reason, how she uncomfortably evil stares at you while you are trying to dine in her restaurant and then adding $1 even though we were already 80c. short and I had to leave the restaurant just to find some coins which I ended up transferring money into my bank account which took a while too.
I don't recommend this place, the food was average, if you feel like Vietnamese food in Sunnybank just cross the road to Market Square, trust me you won't regret it, where the food is actually good, service is better and it is cheaper.

This place is a disgrace to Vietnamese Food. All that's it's got going for it is the clean modern look, and average service. The food is simply awful!. Our wonton egg noodle soup was not edible. The pastry was rock hard, the filling was full of Msg, and the soup, was flavoured with Instant Noodle (onion flavour, with all the lard packet) flavouring.
The Cube Steak was pan fried instead of grilled, although tender, it was tasteless. Because the food was so terrible, no matter how much you charge for the dish, it's still a waste of money, not to mention the possibility of making you sick!

Amazing food, great flavor combinations, I have to say from entree to dessert it exceeded our expectations. The service staff were friendly and helpful and the decor set the mood nicely. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

The management have no manners. They argued with us over two dollars and shook their heads at us when they made a mistake on the bill. They told us they only had broken rice but when we ordered rice seperate it was normal rice. I had finished my meal when my wifes meal was served.
They should realise that there are many nice restaurants in this area for us not to feel the need to go back there and its one place I will not be revisiting.
