After reading so many good reviews, I thought it was only fair to write my own. The food to be honest was Not Real Thai. It was a westernised version of what I would call Slop. Since when does Thai fried rice have peas and corn in it? Not to mention the chicken chilli basil that had cauliflower and broccoli and mushroom in it. All 6 dishes we ordered lacked the much loved flavours of real Thai cuisine. Yuck yuck yuck is all I have to say.

Been there six times, each time the order was incorrect, including times where food we had paid for was not even received. The last two chicken laksas we had were disgusting, it was like the chicken was off, we couldn't stand the smell or taste and they were thrown out, talk about a waste of money! We are over complaining and have decided to stop going there, shame really as we normally enjoy Thai food. I would not recommend this place to my enemies.

Best honey chicken I have had in my life. Classy place that's always really busy. Staff friendly and attentive and quick service. Food is beautiful, highly recommend!

We have dined here many times over the last few years. We are from Wagga Wagga and when we come to Brisbane we book in for a delicious meal. Never been disappointed.

Food at Red Chilli Thai just gets better every time we go. You have to try their pawpaw salad and crispy pork. You will not want to share this one.

Based on other customers rave reviews here, I booked a table for 2 for a "first date" with a new lady friend.

I'm sorry now that I did not do more research and visit the restaurant first.
Their website and waterfront location had me imagining a classy, sophisticated evening to enjoy a dining experience with my new lady friend.

As soon as we approached the restaurant we felt overdressed. They were very few people there, but still they were understaffed as it took a full 5 minutes before we were greeted at the counter. A cheeky but polite young girl, clearly with no waitressing skills, actually entertained us with her fumbling and bumbling through taking our meal and drinks order, making jokes about forgetting to provide us with glasses to pour our drinks into and responding to some requests with "No" before running off laughing to comply with our request.

Everything was cheap and felt it from the decor to the throw away chopsticks.
The food was probably served a bit too quickly and the courses too close together, however, to their credit the freshness of the food was reasonable, although the flavours a bit subdued, obviously catering to the average Aussie palate. The meal sizes were quite large and we struggled to get through half of it.

As a "good value for money" suburban restaurant it rates very well and I would certainly go back again if that's what I wanted at the time. However, if you are looking for any level of class, authenticity, quality of food or sophistication, look elsewhere. On a scale of "best Thai" restaurants available in Brisbane, I would rate the overall experience a 6 out of 10 and according to my Thai girlfriend, clearly not the "best Thai Restaurant outside Thailand by a long shot.

Good little Thai with plenty of options, my only big issues here are that the counter staff do not speak English very well at all and they recently had 2 high school girls playing folk rock guitar in the place. Otherwise really nice food.

Surprisingly, this is probably the most authentic Thai in South Brisbane and the cheapest. Where they fall down is on service. It is quick and efficient but if the waiting staff showed more empathy, this place will most definitely take off. Also if the Waiting staff wore clothes that are more contrasting with the bright colours (instead of wearing drab black) that would help too.

Best Thai I have eaten. I order takeaway calamari entree and chicken tasty satay sauce. Delicious and stayed hot for a long time which is rare with takeaways. They are usually going cold by the time you get home. I will return.

I went to the Orchid on what was advertised in the brisbane eating guide what a disappointment that was we went on saturday nite 24/3/2012, 7.30. Food was bland, service poor, restaurant cold, no happy faces, very very bad, I wonder why so many people choose to eat there, just a disgrace to thai food in general.

I personally would never eat there again and how did they get all those awards, what shame on you Thai Orchid ...oooh and don't go outside the restaurant for u might trip over all the cockroaches running around the pavement.

One curry ordered contained only 3 pieces of meat and the rest uncooked potato. Lovely sauce no meat however. Service was horrible.

Since the place was very tiny, my expectation to get a takeway for a busy night wasn't too high. Surprisingly, the food was absolutely beautiful. I ordered satay chicken, massaman curry and spicy fried rice recommended by the staff. I really enjoyed it - yummy peanut sauce and tender and tasty beef in the curry, and great flavour of the fried rice. I will absolutely order from them again.

Great food, vegetables obviously fresh and cooked to perfection. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Not overpriced, value for money. Decor was nothing to write home about but the friendly staff help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Terrible service, the first time we tried to order walked out because the girl could not understand or communicate in english and tried to charge an extra $10 for coconut rice. The second time we ordered food, which was barely passable as Thai and again the service was terrible. There was no trace/hint of coconut in the coconut rice and there was not one cashew in the cashew chicken, the beef in the curry was horribly dry! When you can out cook the apparent Thai chef then you know not to bother going there again, I only give the food a two because they used actual meat!

Ordered take away on a Saturday night. On checking order it was wrong. Advised them of the error, they made out we did not know what we ordered. They then checked the docket and found us to be correct. They fixed the order but with no apologsy and made us feel like we were at fault. Will not go there again. At the end food was poor. Ordered a prawn dish which contained 3 prawns in total.

Easily the best Thai food I've ever eaten. So fresh. Possibly the last place you'd expect to find good Thai food, but it is the bomb. The fish cakes are to die for.

And the views are some of the best in Brisbane. Old world club, which is wonderful and strange but interesting locals. You can't go wrong.
