We love coming here because it's a great value for your money and they have plenty of food selections. It's also very handy as it is close to cinemas, shopping and fun and games for kids.

Had five dish dinner - Honey chicken was definitely refried from lunch leftovers, not fresh or tender at all, was chewy and batter was the much darker deep fried colour than usual... would have to say the same for the sweet n sour pork... beef and black bean was lovely... but disappointed in the end... why can't all food be relatively fresh at these prices...

The best Chinese restaurant I ever been, the sea food is fresh and tasty! May be a little pricey, but the service is really impressed, the manager help us to removed the fish bone, and have free dessert, prawn chips and fruits, will come next time.

My husband and I had lunch today and were really impressed. A great selection of fresh foods, something for everyone I would have thought. Desserts were a little bit of a let down on everything else (bit of "boxed cake" to it) but frankly, we were so full at that point it really didn't matter. Really enjoyed the little pot of chocolate mousse and the bread and butter pudding, the perfect finish. Also appreciated the readily available chilled water bottles for the table, served with a warm smile. Thanks guys! We'll be back!

Visiting for lunch the other day we noted dine-in prices on the lunch menu for the specials are now $9.50 eat-in. We ordered one of the 'standards' - 'Spicy Calamari' which was not as tasty as previously experienced, nor as plentiful. However, it was still served with choice of a small bowl of steamed or (egg) fried rice.
From the 'Vietnamese Specials' the Pork Spare Ribs with Spring Rolls and Vermicelli sounded appealing (and at $10.50 was at the top end of the lunch menu price scale) but in reality presented as a bowl of cold (undressed) vermicelli noodles, topped with water-logged carrot and cucumber - the 'spare ribs' comprising of some very small slivers of cold pork scattered with peanuts and the spring rolls (2) cut in quarters, and again cold.
The accompanying bowl of basically sugar, water and some chopped chilli lacked fish sauce and any real flavour profile and just added to the overall 'sogginess'. Overall, a real struggle to enjoy anything about this dish.
We previously reviewed in 2011 - Have continued to visit this venue over the years and in 2008 things went downhill somewhat but recalled West End Garden offers a $8.50 lunch special menu (they do offer other lunchtime choices on this menu but they are at their normal a-la-carte prices so read carefully).
On the way to the (superb) Valentino Retrospective at MOMA we were after something quick and tasty so decided to drop in last week. Ordered the 'Spicy Calamari' and the 'Mongolian Beef' from the fairly standard (read safe) choices. Both came with steamed or fried rice and we expected the rice to be on the same plate so were surprised when we received a more than decent sized separate plate of fried rice.
The spicy calamari disappeared in record time, the coating was crisp, the calamari tender with a thin spicy sauce spooned over.
Mongolian Beef was more pedestrian but also generous in size and vegies nice and crisp. Service was swift with iced water quickly provided. For $17 we left very full and certainly feeling we'd received great value for money. Noting the large amount of other lunch-time diners we are not the only ones to think this. Try here when next catching a movie at the nearby Southbank Cinemas during the week.
In 2007 I reviewed as follows: Have dined here on numerous occasions over the years. Pretty consistent food. Can get packed on Friday and Saturday nights especially with larger groups. Young staff well meaning but service can be somewhat haphazard. Picks are the Vietnamese dishes: Vietnamese Combination Spring Rolls, Sugarcane Prawns, Kung Pao Prawns, Garden Shin Beef, Salt and Pepper Squid, Spicy Fried Rice, Creamy Prawns.

I found the seafood buffet to be great value for money! There's a vast range of foods and the quality is great! I've been to the $50 seafood buffet somewhere else and the range was woeful! Broncos is so much better and so is the price.

Although we live on the Gold Coast, we dine at Asian Lily whenever we arrange a family get together in Brisbane. The food is really fresh and tasty and is extremely well priced. The service is always quick and friendly. We have dined at Asian Lily for many years as either small, medium or large groups and we have never been disappointed. Everyone we have eaten with has enjoyed it.

This is the 4th time we have visited Fortune well. We keep coming back because the food is delicious and very authentic. However, the service leaves Alot to be desired!
Tonight our table was so Shocked to see one of the waiters smoking at the front of the restaurant, not once but twice during our stay, right next to the 'No Smoking' signs. This caused a chain reaction and other diners stood in the same area smoking too. We were dining alfresco, so this certainly affected our meal.
The waitress looking after the alfresco area did not acknowledge our requests and was more interested in watching what was happening at a near by restaurant or talking on the phone or to her friends who were hanging out the front also.
It is such a shame that the great food on offer is let down by very poor floor staff. Their level of English is low, but it's their enthusiasm for the job which is lowest. We did have one young gent deliver a plate and assist with a request. He was excellent! He apologised that his English was not so good, but he was so helpful and polite that it was not an issue. The young lady working in this area could learn from him.
As on previous visits, the food was top notch, boiled pork with garlic and chilli, wonton soup and the fish swimming in chilli oil is out of this world, please train your staff to the same standard as your food and this would be a number one restaurant!

Went there for Chinese New Year with a group of 16. We were originally told that the Banquet consisted of 9 plates of food. However we only got 6 different plates (only the fried rice was listed on their original Banquet menu). All of the meals were luke warm. When we asked for dipping sauce, we had to wait 20mins and asked 4 different people for it!
Instead of Sesame Prawn Toast, there was some strange looking strips of beef. Instead of BBQ Pork in Plum Sauce, there was cold fried pork. The 'Sizzling' Mongolian Beef was not sizzling. The 'Garlic' King Prawns looked and tasted like 'Bland' Baby Prawns, and instead of having the Ice Cream with Lychees, we got 'Petit Fours' which was more like 'Petit Twos'. Actually, it was more like 5 bits of cut up sponge cake and Chinese Sesame Seed balls.
When we received the bill, they had overcharged us. We were originally quoted $32.80 and ending up paying $39.90. When we complained and even showed her the email with the prices listed, they told us that we had changed it! We told her that on the phone she said the price was $32.80, she said we heard her wrong! She didn't care and we had no choice but to pay it. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

We have been going to Superbowl for many years. I'm a little surprised to see comments that the food was not good, the food is the only reason we go and its great! Like any restaurant though, I have found that you do need to pick your meals.
Our picks: Salt n Pepper Squid - the best! Khao Kway Tao noodles. Sweet n Sour Pork, Pork Spare Ribs, Steamed Greens, Fried Rice, Seafood Laksa, Sizzling Mongolian Lamb.
I agree that service isn't great (especially if its busy) and don't expect a quiet restaurant! But in the end worth it for the value and the food.

The management have no manners. They argued with us over two dollars and shook their heads at us when they made a mistake on the bill. They told us they only had broken rice but when we ordered rice seperate it was normal rice. I had finished my meal when my wifes meal was served.
They should realise that there are many nice restaurants in this area for us not to feel the need to go back there and its one place I will not be revisiting.

I hadn't eaten here for ~ 6 years and I was shocked how much the food quality had deteriorated. Their tandoori chicken was very dry, they serve a very basic steamed/fried vegetable dish as a standard banquet dish and the meat/seafood dishes have very little meat or seafood. Very disappointed.

As a regular cruiser I've come to know the service in Australia is pretty lacking. That all changed the night we went to Taigum Gardens Chinese restaurant. The staff were friendly and provided fast service, the food was delicious, served piping (and in the case of Mongolian Lamb, sizzling) hot to our tables and there was just enough pomp and ceremony in each course to make the night special without dragging or becoming corny. This will now be our go-to date night, and we look forward to many family dinners with the in-laws as well.

I have been going to the Pine and Bamboo for many years, and every time, the food was great. Service was on the ball and eager to please. They are happy to adjust the meals to the needs of their clients. It is not flash decor, but serviceable and clean. The wait staff are friendly and their range is great. Try it... you won't be disappointed.

Food was reasonable, atmosphere was good, but the prices were a bit high. The portions were much smaller than they appeared in the pictures, which was disappointing and for $4.80 a plate it turned out to be an expensive lunch. Also $3.50 for a small post mix soft drink that was mostly ice - seemed a lot to me! The service was friendly but not attentive. We had to keep getting up to get the waitresses attention so we could order more. Not sure if I'll be back.
